Thanks Ward 1

To the editor:
I thank the voters of Ward 1 who elected me to represent them on our City Council. I look forward to serving all citizens of the Ward while doing what is best for our entire city.
Selma is at the crossroads of progress or peril. Selma can become a shining city set on a hill giving light to the Black Belt if city government will curb crime, exercise fiscal responsibility, promote all of the city’s history, operate with county government, Valley Grande, Orrville and county residents. If we are unable or unwilling to do this, Selma will become a mere footnote in history.
After 56 men had signed or Declaration of Independence, endangering their own lives and fortunes, Benjamin Franklin told them, “We must all hang together, or assuredly we will hang separately.” At the crossroads of progress or peril, all of us in Selma must hang together or we will surely hang separately on the gallows of crime, poverty, despair and irrelevance.
