Raymond Howard Jennings,

73, of Jacksonville died Friday, August 20, 2004, in Birmingham.

Graveside services with military honors were held Monday, August 23, at Anniston Memorial Gardens with Rev. Gary Ledbetter and Lewis Jennings officiating and Gray Brown-Service Mortuary of Anniston directing.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Jennings Bowie and husband Daniel of Selma; a son, Danny Ray Jennings and wife Rita of Selma; four grandchildren, Jamie Bowie Stephens, Laurie Bowie Scott, Mallory Reid Jennings and Daniel Logan Jennings; three great granddaughters; three sisters, Doris Green, Helen Billington and Louise Robinette all of Anniston; and a brother, Floyd Jennings of Piedmont.

Active pallbearers were Darryl Green, Dale Green, Ted Towns, Bryant Williams, Floyd Jennings Jr. and Michael J. Billingsly.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Jennings was an Alabama native, retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving in Vietnam where he received many awards, commendations and medals, including the Bronze Star for exceptional bravery. He had also retired from the Anniston Army Depot in 2003.

Mr. Jennings received an Associate degree from Gadsden State Junior College and also attended the Air University in Montgomery. He was a life member of VFW Post #4263 in Piedmont, a life member of DAV Chapter #21 in Piedmont, and a member of the VFW. He was also an active member in his local Masonic Lodge.

Paul I. Plouffe

Rev. Paul I. Plouffe, S.S.E., 88, died Sunday, August 22, 2004, in Selma.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon, on Wednesday, August 25, at Queen of Peace Parish in Selma. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Selma.

Besides his brothers in religion, Father Plouffe is survived by several cousins and a nephew.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Edmundite Southern Missions, 1428 Broad Street, Selma, AL 36701.

Father Plouffe, son of Arthur and Edmire (Fauteux) Plouffe, was born on August 10, 1916 in Cohoes, NY.

He was a professed member of the Society of Saint Edmund for 64 years and an ordained priest for 59 years. Father Plouffe graduated from Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, VT in 1941.

After his ordination, Fr. Plouffe became a member of the faculty at St. Edmund’s Junior Seminary in Swanton (1945-47) and then at St. Edmund’s College in Pontigny, France (1947-52), He returned to the U.S. to become Assistant at Saint Elizabeth’s Parish and Chaplain at Good Samaritan Hospital in Selma (1952-54). Once again, he traveled to Europe to serve as an assistant at Saint Edmund of Canterbury Parlsh in Whitton, England (1954-58) and then with the Brentwood Diocesan Traveling Mission in Stock, England (1958-65). He became pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Stock (1965-69), assistant and co-pastor at St. Mary’s Parish in Greenfield Park, Quebec, Canada (1970-73) and Pastor at Saint Edmund of Canterbury Parish (1973-76). For the next 10 years he would be pastor at Holy Cross Parish, BouchervlUe, Quebec, Canada, Saint Edmund-by-the-Sea, Dauphin Island, St. Michael’s Parish, Heron Bay, and assistant pastor of St. Peter Claver Parish, New Orleans, La.

It was during the devastating Hurricane Frederic of September, 1979 at Dauphin Island that Fr. Plouffe provided spiritual comfort and encouragement to the people of the island. He was always available to lend a helping hand.

In 1983, Fr. Plouffe became Heron Bay’s first full-time resident pastor of St. Michael’s Parish, a fishing village of Mobile Bay, consisting of 82 families. Even though Fr, Plouffe had retired in 1986, he accepted one of his toughest assignments-working in the inner city parish of St. Peter Claver in New Orleans, La. He reportedly said of himself at the time, “I’m like an old fire horse. Whenever I hear the call of duty, I start galloping off to help.” In 1993, he returned as Pastor at St. Edmund-by-the-Sea until 1995 when he retired to the Edmundite Mission House.

James Morrow

James Morrow, 85, of Plantersville, died Wednesday, August 18, 2004.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 28, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Kabbil officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Morrow; nine sons, Willie C. Morrow, Lenzie Morrow, Randall Morrow, Michael Morrow, Paul Morrow, Samuel Morrow, Curtis Morrow, Jeffery Morrow and Jason Morrow; seven daughters, Betty Ferguson ((Charles), Virginia Thompson, Juanita Lanier (Richard), Rosa Clay, Rita Blevins (Eddie), Evelyn Morrow and Janice Parker (William); 51 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; five sons-in-law; and two daughters-in-law.

James Timothy Abrams

James Timothy Abrams 56, of Marion, died Monday August23, 2004, at his home

Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August, 25, at Marion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Waters and Dr. Larry Teasley officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Joyce Avery Abrams; daughter, Julee’ Abrams Kemp (Justin) and grandchild, Timothy Reid Kemp of Locust Grove, Va.; sons, Grady Abrams (Myra) of Alexander City

and Stewart Abrams of Marion; parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Walter Abrams; sister, Debbie Harrison (Leslie) all of Marion; brother, David Abram (Lynn) of Tuscaloosa; mother-in-law, Doris Avery of Marion; sisters-in-law, Kody Elliott of Tuscaloosa and Dottie Hoops (Robin) of Hendersonville, N.C. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers are Chason Abrams, Clint Abrams, Barton Elliott, Chris Harrison, Leslie Harrison, Robin Hoops, John Singley and Brandon Vaughan.

Honorary pallbearers are John Anderson, Dave Clark, Dennis Harbison, Earl Mayfield, Ben Miller, Glenn Nichols, Jimmy Suttles, Don Ed Tucker, Tim Tucker, Supper Club members, members of the 1966 graduation class of Marion High School, members of the 731st Maintenance Battalion of Tallassee, the 31st Chemical Brigade and OMS No. 9 of Northport, the 166th Engineer Company of Centreville, the 31st Forward Support Battalion of Enterprise, and the 167th Engineer Company of Demopolis, ARNG, Dr. William Shane Lee and staff and Dr. Louis B. Nabors and staff of Kirklin Clinic Neuro-Oncology.

Mr. Abrams was born in Sylacauga, on Dec. 30, 1947, and was a graduate of Marion High School and Livingston University. He recently retired from the Alabama Army National Guard with 34 years of service, of which the last 24 were full-time. He was a member of Marion United Methodist Church.

Katie Mae Hunter

Katie Mae Hunter, 81, of Ft. Deposit, died Sunday, August 22, 2004.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 26, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Ft. Deposit, with the Rev. C.A. Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Ft. Deposit Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Vicky Denise Crear

Vicky Denise Crear, 36, of Selma, died Monday, August 23, 2004, at a Birmingham hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home.
