To the editor:
In response to Ret. Col. Wells and his call for reinforcements:
Col. Wells, like most officers you seem to be a little lost in your so call war on crime in Selma. Don’t you live in Valley Grande? And is it true that before you call for reinforcements you first have to have the authority to do so? You are not the Mayor of Selma or on the City Council or even running for those positions. Those are the ones in the trenches; it seems that you are, in fact, behind the lines. Are you not the Republican Chairman for Dallas County? Yet you are not behind a Republican running in the Mayors race. We all know who you are supporting in that race. And there are great African-Americans right here that are in the trenches. They are pastors, teachers, moms and dads but the only one you seem to know are Republicans in Washington. Kind of funny, ain’t it? But no one is laughing because it’s just too sad. You did get one thing right: it is a war. But it is against the family.
Crime is just a symptom of this war Colonel. Please get a compass so you will know were you are at.
