Emily Robinson Butler
Emily Robinson Butler, 71, died Saturday, May 1, 2004.
Services are at noon Friday, May 7, at Ebenezer M. B. Church with the Rev. F.D. Reese officiating. Music by Preston Frazier.
Survivors include her husband, Roosevelt Butler Sr.; five sons, Theodis R. Butler, Reuben E. (Bessie) Butler, Marvin Butler, Jeffery O. (Christine) Butler and Roosevelt (Lethea) Butler Jr.; four daughters, Rosa M. (Russell) Baldwin, Edith E. (Michael) Pritchett, Camellia A. Butler and Deborah A. (Percy) Thurman; one daughter-in-law, Annie Pearl Moore; one brother, Virgil Robinson; and four sisters, Claudia Smiley, Anna Walker, Marie Allen and Willie Bell Banks; 20 grandchildren; Carlos Pritchett, Mitesha Pritchett, Cedric M. Pritchett, Jeffreda N. Knight, Branden R. Baldwin, Amberlishae King, Daunte King, Emily Haywood, Jeffrey O. Butler, Nakita P. Butler, Michael O. Butler, Derrius Butler, Shaunta Butler, Reuben Butler Jr., Rojah Butler, Jalen Butler, Latesha Chaney, Jessie Crenshaw, Stacey Crenshaw and Tameka Crenshaw; two great-grandchildren, Camryn J. Knight and Anthony J. Sullivan Jr.
Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, at Selma Funeral Home.
The family will accept flowers, but suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Ebenezer Church Building Fund.
Sindy Tipton
Sindy Tipton, 86, of Selma, died Sunday, May 2, 2004, at a local hospital.
Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at Fairlawn Cemetery with the Rev. James Beal officiating and Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include three daughters, Ann T. Jones, Geneva T. Ferguson and Bernice T. Moore (Amos E.); five grandchildren, Charles E. Tipton, Rosalyn D. Jones, Joann Bailey, Stephanie and Allison Moore; great-grandchildren, Angela, Dennis, Jordan and Daniel; one son-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers are Deacons of Greater St. Paul M. B. Church.
Family visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. on Friday at Miller Funeral Home.
Evie Dee Vaughan
Evie Dee Vaughan, 91, of Selma, died Monday, May 3, 2004, at a local hospital.
Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Chappelle officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include nieces, Billie Johnson of Orlando, Fla., Erin Nortonen of Cary, N.C. and Ethel Graham of Southington, Conn.; nephew, Fred Vaughan; and cousin Henry Vaughan.
Active pallbearers are Russell Williams, Jack Frost, Leonard McCary, Ned Farish, Tom Dooling and Marvin Keener.
Honorary pallbearers are Calvin Strickland, Wayne Robinson, and A.J. Wells.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Valley Grande Baptist Church Building Fund.
Ms. Vaughan was a life long member of Central (Valley Grande) Baptist Church, where she taught children and adult classes and was the chairman of the homebound support group. Ms. Vaughan owned no car, so she walked many a mile visiting fellow church members. She was employed at Woolworth Department Store for over 40 years.
John Curtis Farmer
John Curtis Farmer, 73, died Monday, May 3, 2004, at a local hospital.
Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 6, at Selma Funeral Home Memory Chapel with the Rev. Robert Bayne of Sister Springs officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary Farmer; one son, Roy Curtis (Lois) Farmer of Selma; two daughters, Paterica Gale (Roger) Nichols and Debra Kay (Tim) Breland all of Selma; two brothers, Ottis (Francis) Farmer of North Carolina and Jimmy (Jan) Farmer of Illinois; three sisters, Eva Lee Farmer, Ruby Price and Caddie Mae Everett all of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Curtis Farmer Jr., Joseph Green, Susan Allday, Justin Blackmon, Julia Breland, Rachel Breland and Conard Breland; and three great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers are Ken Nixon, Don Jones, Curtis Farmer, Daryl Allday, Justin
Blackmon and Don Belcher.
Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Farmer was of the Baptist faith and loved to work with wood. He will be sadly missed by numerous friends. He served our country faithfully and retired from the Air Force.
