Renona Johnson

Renona Johnson of Uniontown, 77, died on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at her home.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. C. Billingsley officiating and Miller Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in church cemetery.

Survivors include three sons, Eugene (Beverly) Johnson, Precious (Winfred) Johnson, Wilmar Johnson, Jr.; two daughters, Willie Mae Johnson, Debra (Richard) Banks; brothers, Herman Scott, John Scott, Albert Jackson; four sisters, Walter Mae (Eddie) Curry, Laura (Lee James) Moore, Veselee (Walter, Sr.) Jackson, Annie Rae Tabb; ten grandchildren; host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, a special uncle and a uncle son Mr. Junius (Beulah) Wright.

Marjorie M. Cosby

Marjorie M. Cosby, 72, of Selma, died on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at a local hospital.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Joshua Davis officiating and Miller Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Elmwood.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Cosby; parents, Litton and Mattie English.

Survivors include five sons, Elbert (Nolita) English, Eugene Cosby Jr. of New York, Charles E. Cosby (Coretta) of Selma, William H. Cosby of Selma, Darryl L. Cosby (Lenora) of Selma; one daughter, Barbara A. Cosby of Queens, New York; two brothers; four sisters; eighteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three daughter-in-laws; host of nephews, nieces and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Bozy Rutledge, Sr.

Bozy Rutledge, Sr., 70, of Perry County, died on Thursday, June 17, 2004 at a local hospital.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Marion Baptist Academy with Rev. Larry Jackson officiating and Miller Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Daniel Cemetery.

Survivors include wife, Arlena Fikes; parents, Margaret Daniel and Henry Ruthledge; son, Bozy Rutledge, Jr.; three daughters, Rosa Rutledge, Jr., Christine Allen, Nillian King; two brothers, Eddie (Annie) Ruthledge, Hosea (Barbara) Ruthledge; one sister, Bessie (Ben) Tubbs; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; one brother-in-law; four sister-in-laws; host nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Alberta Jones

Alberta Jones, 76, of Sardis, AL, died on Thursday, June 17, 2004 at a local nursing home.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2004 at 1 p.m. at New Bride with Rev. Curtis Jackson officiating and Miller Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include five sons, Robert Jones, Ervin Jones, John Jones, Samuel Jones, Charles Jones; five daughters, Mary Jones, Verdell Mason, Alberta Molane, Pearl Coates, Shirley Thomas; one brother, Eddie Milhouse; one sister, Lillie Grace Milhouse; eighteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; host of nephews and nieces.

Susie Mix

Susie Mix, 97, of Newbern, AL, died on Monday, June 21, 2004 at a hospital.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Newbern, AL with Rev. S.P. Powell officiating and Larkin & Scott Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Thomas Family Cemetery in Newbern, AL. The body will lie in state at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Saturday, June 26, 2004 beginning at 12 noon.

Joe Jackson

Joe Jackson, 68, of Faunsdale, AL, died on Sunday, June 20, 2004 at a Tuscaloosa hospital.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at Larkin & Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Demopolis, AL with Rev. Clifford Coleman officiating and Larkin & Scott Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Grayer’s Cemetery in Faunsdale, AL.

Delois Wilson of Georgia, died on Thursday, June 24, 2004.

Edward “Nick” Chestnut

Edward “Nick” Chestnut, 62, of Baltimore, Maryland formerly of Sardis, AL, died on Friday, June 18, 2004.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2004 at 12 noon with E. B. County Lane Baptist Church with Rev. W.W. Monton officiating and Miller Funeral Home and Community Funeral Home of Lumpkin, GA directing. Burial will follow in churchyard.

Survivors include parents, Josephene Dortch of Mobile, AL; four brothers, Goodman (Jackie), Charles (Sylvia), Maurine Dortch of Mobile, AL, Felicine Dortch of Jackson, SC; seven sisters, Juliette (Jackie) Hallman of Midland, GA, Zella (Edward) Cowan of Mobile, AL, Mary Robinson of Peekskill, NY, Shirell Dortch of Mobile, AL Ina Dortch, Angelita (Darryl) Hickman all of Prichard, AL, Audrey Dortch of Powder Springs, GA; twenty-six nephews and twenty-six nieces.

Sabrina H. Lolley

Sabrina H. Lolley, 49, of Selma, died on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at her home.

Services will be held on Friday, June 25, 2004 at 2 p.m. in Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Stover officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery.

Visitation was held at Lawrence Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2004.

Survivors include husband, Tim Lolley; mother, Betty M. Harris; sons, James Michael Curtis, Patrick Lolley, Casey Lolley all of Selma; daughters, Janet-Curtis Smith of Verbena, AL and Cindi Kay Lolley of Selma; brother, James Scott Harris of Selma; grandchildren, Jonathan David Smith, James Landon Curtis, Janna Brooke Smith; daughter-in-law, Laura Curtis; son-in-law, Johnny Smith.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Harris, Charles Hooker, Dan Adams, Don Lolley and Preston Honeycutt.

Mrs. Lolley was preceded in death by her father James F. Harris and her late husband David H. Curtis.

Ida Louise Austin, 53, a resident of Decatur, Georgia, died Sunday, June 20, 2004.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2004, at 1 p.m.at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Selma with Rev. Anthony Austin officiating and Hillside Mortuary of

Wetumpka, AL. directing. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The body will lie in state at church one hour prior to service.

Survivors include two sons, Billy Raymond Leggs Jr., Bernard Lyle Byrd; one grandson, Zacheous; one grand-daughter, Zakeria. all from Decatur, Georgia; a loving mother, Ida Austin of Selma; three sisters, Mattie M. Barlow, Gloria E. Austin of

Selma, Hattie M. Austin, Martin Mays (Archie) of Buffalo, New York; one family adopted sister, Mattie B. Craig Thornton of Buffalo, New York; four brothers, Willie G. Austin of Decatur Georgia, Irby H. Austin of Stone Mountain, Respectively; Rev. Anthony J. Austin of Selma, Johnny Lee Suttles of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister-in -law, Josie M. Barlow of Cleveland, Ohio; two uncles, Arthur B. Hardy of Selma, Claude Young of Lexington, Kentucky; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and many sorrowing friends in addition to the fathers of her children, William R. Leggs, Jr. of Portland, Oregon and Anthony Byrd of Decatur, Georgia.
