Primary races coming down to the wire

Tonight the candidates competing in the June 1 Primary will finally found out if the months of electioneering have been worth it.

Or at least, some of them will.

Polls will be open today from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. as June 1 Primary will decide several key races.

The District Judge race figures to be interesting with three-term incumbent Judge Nathaniel Walker facing a pair of strong challengers in attorneys Jimmy Nunn and Bob Armstrong.

Another key race will be for District Attorney in the 4th Judicial with incumbent Ed Greene facing attorney Michael Jackson.

In the 4th Judicial Circuit, Circuit Court Judge race, incumbent Judge Marvin Wiggins is facing a challenge from former District and Circuit Court Judge Farrell McKelvey -Wright.

In County Commission races, Barbara Barge will face incumbent, Connel “Big Daddy” Towns for District 1.

In District 3, Darryl Moore faces incumbent Curtis Williams.

In District 4, incumbent Kimbrough “Kim” Ballard faces Larry Nickles.

In national races, incumbent 7th Congressional District Representative Artur Davis faces a challenge from Albert Turner, Jr.

Various races for delegates in the presidential election will also be on the ballot as will the Democratic and Republican candidates for President of the United States.

WHBB 1490 and WDXX- Dixie 100 will broadcast results through the evening and updates will be posted on the Selma Times-Journal Web site, www.selmatimesjournal.com, for updates as well.
