Mary Louise Philips Smith

Mary Louise Philips Smith, 83, of Selma, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services will be held Monday, May 24, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home. The Rev. Joe Britton will officiate. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Joe W. Smith, Selma; sons, Joe W. (Jean) Smith Jr., Selma; Luther L. (Cathy) Smith, Selma; Aubrey T. (Margaret) Smith, Northport; Starsky Lee Smith, Selma; daughters, Marie Stewart and Susie Bracket, both of Selma; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Walker and Getrude Louise Phillips, three children, Wesley Smith, Mary Jane Smith and her youngest daughter Teresa Smith Godbold. One sister, Irene Elizabeth Rotenberry, a brother Lawrence Walter Philips Jr. and one grandchild, Elna Louise Stewart.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Joey Smith, Jason Smith, Chris Arnold, Lee Colburn, Stephen Colburn and Quince Colburn.

The family received friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 23.

Angelyn Harris Walker

Angelyn Harris Walker, 54, of Detroit, Mich., died May 17, 2004, in Detroit.

Services are scheduled for May 24, at 11 a.m. at the Zion MP Cemetery officiated by the Rev. R. Marzette, directed by Walker Mortuary.

She is survived by her husband, James Walker; parents, John and Bessie Todd Sr.; brother, John Todd Jr.; and a host of other friends and relatives.
