Rita Dillow

Rita Dillow, 49, of Plantersville, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at a Huntsville hospital.

Services are at 3 p.m. Monday, May10, at the Chapel of Collins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Collins Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph Dillow; daughter, Cheri Cabrera Wolfe; mother, Lillian K. Hendricks and step-father, Thomas Hendricks; stepchildren, Steven Allen Dillow, Angela Dillow Armstrong, Vincent Eric Dillow, Kristy Dillow and Elizabeth Dillow; stepbrother, Lee Hendricks; five grandchildren, Celeste, Amber, Michaela, Brianna and Kenley.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, May 9, at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Janie Priester Whetstone

Janie Priester Whetstone, of Florence, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at her home.

Graveside services were at 11 a.m., on Saturday, May 8, at Greenview Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Wright and the Rev. Dr. Tom Whatley officiating and Greenview Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Julian T. Whetstone of Florence; daughter, Leigh Throckmorton and husband Herb of Muscle Shoals; son, Tom Whetstone and wife, Mellany of Killen; four grandchildren, Allan Scott and wife, Leah of Winston Salem, N.C., Chris Scott of Orlando, Fla., Janie Whetstone of Charleston, S.C., and Ryann Whetstone of Killen; one great-grandson, Julian Whetstone Scott of Winston Salem, N.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Claude and Janie Elizabeth Priester and a brother, Willie Claude Priester Jr.

Active pallbearers are Leo Creel, Leon Mobbs, Harold Parker, Jerril Smith, Jim Wilson and Paul Yokley.

Donations may be made in memory of Janie to Hospice of the Shoals, 115 Fairground Road, Florence, AL 35630.

The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care and kindness of the staff of 6th West and 1st West at E.C.M. Hospital; Nurses and staff of the Blood and Cancer Center; Home Instead Care Providers; Avalon Discount Drugs; and Hospice of the Shoals.

Mrs. Whetstone, was born on Sept. 15, 1928, in Ft. Deposit. She met her husband of 54 years in Selma, where they made their home and raised their family. She moved to Florence in 1994 to be near her children. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Florence and was a member of Ruth Sunday School class. She was active in church her entire life and spent many years working with young adults.

Aubrey Bernard Bolen

Aubrey Bernard Bolen, 83, of Selma, died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at a local nursing home.

Graveside services were at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Dandy Simmons officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Nellene Hughes Bolen; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Allford; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Glenn Bolen of Nixa, Mo., and Clyde Bolen of Tuscaloosa; sister, Elizabeth Pope of Arlington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the American Heat Association or your favorite charity.

Christine Clark Sanderson

Christine Clark Sanderson, 92, of Selma, died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at a local nursing home.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Arab Memorial Cemetery in Arab, with Dr. David Thomas officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include daughter, Joy S. Thompson of Selma; two grandchildren, Harry L. Woodward III of Birmingham and Jonathan C. Woodward of Montgomery; and one great-grandchild, Jon Clark Woodward of Montgomery.

Active pallbearers were Benny Nelson, Jerry Nelson, Michael Nelson, Steve Clark, Woody Sanderson, Leigh Sanderson and Jay Nelson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to Selma Christian Ministry.

Oda Mae Jackson Reese

Oda Mae Jackson Reese, 88, of Zephyrhill, Fla., formerly of Marion,

died Thursday, May 6, 2004 in Zephyrhill.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. May 10 in the Marion Cemetery with the Rev. Thomas Fondrer officiating and directed by Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel.

Survivors include one sister, Shelby Johnston of Marion; a number of nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers include Randy Johnston, George Nichols, Howard Cook, D.L. Stephens, David Johnston, and Steve Johnston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
