A search warrant served Thursday resulted in the arrests of two Selmont residents.
Members of the Fourth Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force brought Jerome Jermaine Sheppard, 28, and Letwanda Desha Turk, 22, into custody on Thursday after finding marijuana, crack cocaine and firearms in their 1703 Old Montgomery Highway residence. “This is an area on a main roadway in Selmont,” said Pat Grindle, drug task force agent. “It’s been a known drug area for some time.” Authorities charged Sheppard with two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana first degree andunlawful possession of a controlled substance.
His bond is $20,000.
Turk was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana first degree. Her bond is $2,500. Both were brought to the Dallas County Jail after
their arrest. According to Grindle, four children were present when
the warrant was executed. A relative picked them up
from the residence.
Several members of the drug task force and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department executed the search warrant, including Sgt. Randy Tucker, who was assigned to the task force by Sheriff Harris Huffman Jr., task force agent Larry Colston, and deputies Troy Stokes and Steve Davidson, who assisted.
The collaborative team found crack cocaine on Sheppard. The marijuana and firearms were found in the home. More than $100 was also seized.
Grindle estimated that the crack cocaine was worth more than $100. The marijuana was estimated to be worth more than $500. “Hopefully, this will help some of the problems in the Selmont area,” Grindle said. “The drug task force is dedicated to stopping drugs in the area.”
Grindle noted that the drug task force was a cooperative effort between all law enforcement agencies in the Fourth Judicial Circuit.
The drug task force is based out of Dallas County District Attorney Ed Greenes office.
