Betty Grist Martin

Betty Grist Martin, 67, of Selma, died Friday, April 23, 2004, at her home.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Saturday April 24, at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Hank Spencer officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, William &8220;Buddy&8221; C. Martin Sr. of Selma; son, William &8220;Bill&8221; C. (Susan) Martin Jr. of Selma; sister, Dottie G. Harrison of Anniston; nieces, Karen George of Anniston and Sharon (Joe) Lilly of Phoenix, Ariz.; nephews, Michael (Robin) George of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dr. E. Patrick (Laura) Harrison of Wellington.

Active pallbearers were Mark McElhaney, Mark Lawrence, Joey Gorenflo, Mike Caver, Mike Friday, and Jody Ward.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Wiregrass Hospice or First Christian Church of Selma.

Carrie Jackson-Jones

Carrie Jackson-Jones, 52, of Demopolis, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at a Demopolis hospital.

Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at St. Paul Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Moore officiating. Burial followed with military honors in Allenville Cemetery in Faunsdale, with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

Michael Neal

Michael Neal, 44, of Demopolis, died Monday, April 19, 2004, at his home.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at St. Matthew Watson Baptist Church, Boligee, with the Rev. James McDonald officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

Lucille Pollard

Lucille Pollard, 85, of Demopolis, died Monday, April 19, 2004, at a Demopolis hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 25, at Moscow Baptist Church in Demopolis, with the Rev. John Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

Thad B. Rollins Sr.

Thad B. Rollins Sr., 71, of Texarkana, Ark., formerly of Selma, died Wednesday, April

7, 2004, at a hospital in

Texarkana, Ark.

Funeral services were held in Texarkana, Ark.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Moss Rollins of Texarkana; two sons, Thad Rollins Jr. of Texarkana and James (Natalie) RolIins of Cumby, Texas; one daughter, Sheila (Danny) Wilson of Portage, Ind.; two brothers, Donald (Mary) Rollins of Selma, and Robert (Marilyn) Rollins of Hebron, Ind.; three sisters, Mamie (Leon) Kirby of Moulton, Jeannette (Ellis) McIntyre and Mary (Kenneth) Edwards of Selma; parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Jud (Mamie) Rollins; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Rollins was born Feb. 20, 1933, in Bryson City, N.C. He was a retired pile driver and an Army veteran.

David Eugene Taccone Sr.

David Eugene Taccone Sr., 77, died at his home Saturday, April 24, 2004, following a lengthy illness.

Graveside services will be held Monday, April 26, at 2 p.m., in the New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Cecil Williams officiating and Lawrence-Brown Funeral Home directing.

He is survived by his wife, Melwyn Miller Taccone, daughters Donna (Dana) Holllis, Selma; Lisa (Gary) Harding, Birmingham; son, David (Donna) Taccone Jr., Selma; grandchildren, John Taccone and Matthew Taccone, Selma; Kayla Harding, Birmingham, sisters, Jean (Willard) Huff, Selma; Marijane Duke, Destin, Fla., several nieces and nephews, and special friend, Carolyn Marshall. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Mabel Taccone and sister Mildred Duke.

David was a graduate of Parrish High School and joined the U.S. Navy in 1944. He retired from the Naval Reserves after 22 years with the rank of Chief Petty Officer.

Robert Charles Pierce

Robert Charles Pierce, 37, of Selma, died Friday, April 23, 2004, at his home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 27, in the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Willard Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Memory Gardens with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his mother, Sue (Terry) Rogers, Lawley; son, Corey Parten, Okla.; brother, David Earl Pierce, Selma; sister, Tammie (Kieth) Chandler, Plantersville; half brother, Bobby Williams, Selma; grandmothers, Virginia Helms and Vermalee Guthrie; along with a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and a very special Aunt Louise Holloway.

He is preceded in death by his father Robert Lamar Pierce Jr., his grandfathers Charles Roy Helms, Jr. and Floyd Guthrie, his uncles Curtis Hobbie and Kenneth Osburn Sr.

Active pallbearers will be Charles Roy Helms Jr., Kenneth Robert Osburn Jr., Buddy Hughes, Craig McTigue, Darrell McTigue and Glenn Whitaker.

The family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 26.
