James A. Spicer Jr.
James A. Spicer Jr., 45, of Miami, Fla., formerly of Selma, died in Miami, Fla.
Services are at 1 p.m. Monday, April 26, at Freedom Baptist Church on Summerfield Rd., with the Rev. Albert Ike Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his parents, Rev. James A. Spicer Sr. and Ida Mae Spicer; two sons, John Spicer of Wisconsin and James Spicer III of North Carolina; one daughter, Patrice Spicer of North Carolina; five brothers, Larry (Deborah), Jerome and Kelvin all of Selma, Michael (Debra) of New Orleans, La., and Edward (Beatrice) of Florida City, Fla.; one sister, Debra Spicer of Selma; nephews, nieces, other relatives, uncles, aunts, etc.
Active pallbearers are friends of the family.
The body will lie in state at the church beginning at 12 noon until funeral hour.
Mr. Spicer was born on Aug. 26, 1958 in Ft. Braggs N.C. to Rev. and Mrs. Spicer Sr. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church of Selma under the late Dr. M.C. Cleveland Jr. He attended Selma High School and served in the U.S. Marines Corps.
Arthur L. Terry
Arthur L. Terry, 70, of Selma, died Thursday, April 15, 2004, at a local hospital.
Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home in Marion. Burial will follow in the Marion City Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Denise Alexander Moultrie
Infant Denise Alexander Moultrie, died Thursday, April 15, 2004, at a local hospital.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with Elder Betty Barker officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include Sherlene Alexander and William Moultrie.
Mainie Louise Toney English
Mainie Louise Toney English, 77, of Selma, died Saturday, April 17, 2004, at local hospital.
Services are at 11 a.m., Thursday April 22, at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Aaron Dobynes officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Montgomery, with J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include her son Nelson L Davis of Montgomery; her adopted sons, Willie Maxey of Selma and Dr. Aaron L. Dobynes (Ginger) of Shreveport, La.; her sisters, Mrs. Edith Adams, Mrs. Sarah T. Green of
Montgomery, Mrs. Emma T. Walker of Lanett and Mrs. Rosa T. Evans of Columbus, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Ardella Toney of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Rose Grace, Newport News, Va.; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Mrs. English the 8th child born to the late Mr. & Mrs. Albert Wilbur (Mainie Louise) Toney Sr. on November 17, 1926 in Montgomery. She was educated in the public schools of Montgomery, finishing at the Booker T. Washington High School. She entered Alabama State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and music. She received her Golden Diploma in May 1979 (50 years).
Her first teaching experience was with the Butler County Board of Education in Greenville. It was where she met the love of her life, the late Rev. Allen Ghee English. They complimented each other. He sang and she played the piano. During her tenure in Greenville she obtained additional instructions from Auburn University and Alabama State University.
After moving to Selma in 1968, she taught in the Selma City Schools system until her retirement in December1984, due to her husband’s illness. She united with the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as one of the church organist, with the Missionary Society, Sunday school and wherever else she was needed.
After her husband’s death she decided to become a volunteer with the Vaughan Regional Hospital Auxiliary. This organization was instrumental in winning her affection for l6 years and 5 months. The Alabama Baptist State Convention was her heart. She could name all the Ministers within the state and could tell you their district, church name, etc. She was devoted, loyal and took pride in her performance.
Lois Nichols Webb
Lois Nichols Webb, 102, of Marion, died Friday, April 16, 2004, at nursing home in Perry County.
Graveside services were at 11:30 am. Monday, April 19, at Hopewell Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Teasley officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes directing.
Survivors include four nieces, Virginia England of Selma, Josephine (Lee) Barnett of Lansing, Mich., Mary Elizabeth Glass of Gallion, and Mary Katharine (Richard) Avery of Marion; three nephews, Charles (Jenny) Holmes of Marion, Leland (Connie) Hudson of Morgantown, W. Va., and Jon (Janet) Nichols of Kentwood, Mich.; a number of great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Webb was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Alexander Webb Jr.

Estelle Moss Peasant
Estelle Moss Peasant, Minter, died Sunday, April 18, 2004.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Selma. The Rev. Steven Washington will officate the services. Burial, directed by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home, will follow at Fairlawn Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph; daughters, JoAnn Peasant Daniel, Minter; Joyce (Arnold) Brown, Montgomery; an adopted daughter, Brenda Hunter, Atlanta; four grandchildren, Davida (Ron) Hall, Marietta, Ga.; David Daniel, Minter; Ashleigh and Anson Brown, Montgomery; two great-granchildren, Brooke and Justin Hall, Marietta, Ga.; sister, Sarah Reese, Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Thomas (Sadie) Moss, Selma; John (Doris) Moss, Sardis; several brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was the daughter of the late Tom and Mattie Moss of Sardis. Mrs. Peasant was an educator for Dallas and Wilcox Counties for more than 40 years.
