Miller tosses no-no

Senior Mallory Miller pitched a no-hitter Monday for the Dallas County Lady Hornets as they downed the Southside Lady Panthers 10-0 in a five inning game.
Miller (19-7) struck out 13 of the 15 putouts of the game. She also walked five batters.
Dallas County, scored at least one run in every inning, put five runs across
in the first inning on a walk, two singles, a sacrifice fly, two passed balls, and an error.
They added one in the second when Cassie Newman hit a triple off the left field fence, missing a homerun by a foot.
DC also scored a run in the third as Jennifer McIlwain, who singled, crossed the plate on a RBI groundout off the bat of
Courtney Lambert.
In the fourth it was an RBI single by Newman the added another run.
The Lady Hornets added two runs in the fifth to win the game on a single, a walk, and two errors.
Offensively the Lady Hornets were led by
Newman, who went 3-for-3 in the game, with two singles and a triple.
She also drove in three runs.
McIlwain added two singles, an RBI and two runs scored. Rachel Coley contributed two singles and a RBI. Chelsea Chamberlain reached base three times and scored three times. The Lady Hornets, who’s season record now stands at 19-7
travel to Bibb County to face West Blockton Tuesday and then to Demopolis on Friday.
