A raucous crowd of fellow students and fans awaited the Selma Lady Saints Friday afternoon in the team’s gym.

After a brief introduction, a little marching band music, a cheer or two and some kind words, the Lady Saints watched as the banner exclaiming their 2003-2004 accomplishments was lifted to the rafters.

The team tossed signed mini-basketballs to the crowd, basked in a little adulation and were thanked by coach Anthony Harris.

The Saints blasted their way to a 31-2 record last season, making it to the Final Four in Birmingham.

They won the area title, the area tournament, the sub-regional tournament and the regionals.

They set team and school records as they earned a number one ranking in the state as the post season began.

The Saints don’t have long to rest on their laurels.
