Morgan stumbles at Bessemer

Morgan Academy blew a 9-1 lead, and the Senators were defeated 11-10 by the Bessemer Academy Rebels in AISA baseball action Saturday in Bessemer.
Zach Hughey started the game on the mound for Morgan, striking out four and giving up seven runs. Reid Buster gave up three runs, and Jeremy Smith took the loss, giving up one run in relief.
Blanton Callen went 3-4 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored. Robert Collins went 2-4 with three RBIs and one run scored. Robert Armstrong went 1-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Buster and Hughey also had a hit in the losing effort.
With the Senators up 9-1 through four innings, the Rebels sent 13 batters to the plate in the fifth. Taking advantage of Morgan fielding errors, Bessemer eventually knotted the score at 10-10 after six innings. The Rebels second hitter in the bottom of the seventh tagged Smith with a walk-off home run for the win.
Morgan Academy is back in action against Ft. Dale in a region match-up Tuesday at 3:30 at Morgan Field.
