Registering, voting duties for everyone

Voting isn’t just a right &045; it’s a duty, and it’s something everyone of voting age needs to do on June 1.
The cutoff date to register for the June primary is 5 p.m. on May 21. We encourage everyone to take the time to not only register to vote, but also exercise that right on June 1.
Registering to vote is easy, takes just a few minutes and is one the best things any one can do. People can register by visiting the Dallas County Board of Registrars’ office in the Dallas County Courthouse, Room No. 122. If the office happens to be closed, people should visit the Probate Judge’s Office and register there.
No identification is required when registering, though it is required if changing your address at the board of registrars’ office. It’s also needed when voting on June 1.
Several pieces of identification are accepted, including a driver’s, hunting, fishing and pistol licenses as well as government checks and EBT cards.
We have the ability to have our voices heard on June 1. Voting should not be seen as a burden that must be endured. It is a right we enjoy. Many countries don’t give their citizens the right to vote. We are fortunate enough to live in a nation that has leaders chosen from its people.
The only thing we have to do to chose those leaders is vote.
