Mary Lois Coleman Martin
Mary Lois Coleman Martin, 78, of Selma, died Friday, March 26, 2004, at a Birmingham hospital.
Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, March 29, at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church with Rev. Arthur Thomas, Rev. William Earl Calhoun, Rev. George Sedberry and Rev. Doug Edds officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing.
Survivors include her husband, Sheldon John “Charlie” Martin of Selma; two step-sons, Jay Martin and Ron (Donna) Martin all of Tuscaloosa; two step-grandchildren, Krista Martin and Tyler Martin of Prattville; sister, Annie Lou (Floyd) Marchant of West Blocton; nephews, Daryl
(Robin) Fondren of Greensboro and David (Karen) Fondren of Centreville; nieces, Rita Breland of Centreville and Terri (James) Jones of Prattville; grand nieces and nephews, Allison Jones, Becky Jones, Neal Jones, Derrick Fondren, Summer Fondren, Haley Adams, Brooke Hatzke, Bridget Breland, Christin Breland, Brianna Fondren and Watson Fondren.
Active pallbearers were Daryl Fondren, David Fondren, Derrick Fondren, James Jones, Neal Jones and Jay Martin.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Pleasant Valley
United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Ken Kynard 1605 Water Oak Road, Greensboro, AL 36744 or to one’s favorite charity.
Special thanks to all the physicians, nurses and staff of UAB 5th floor, Spain, CICU and MICU whose caring meant so much.
Mrs. Martin was born on May 8, 1925, in the Pleasant Valley Community in Hale County, to David B. and Mary R. V. Coleman, who preceded her in death. She graduated form Greensboro High School and Massey Draughn Business College. After working in Montgomery for several years, she moved to Selma where she worked for Western Auto and Kyser’s for many years. She was a loving person who kept in touch with her lifelong friends. She was a dear wife, sister and aunt and she will be fondly remembered
for her many acts of love and kindness.
Kathryn Teresa McConnell
Kathryn Teresa “Connie” McConnell, 50, died Saturday, March 27, 2004.
Services are at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, at the Chapel of Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine, La.
Survivors include her husband, John Robert McConnell.
Doyle Alonzo Hudson
Doyle Alonzo Hudson, 45, of Greenville, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 28, at Casey Church of Christ in Selma with Harrison Funeral Home of Greenville directing.
Survivors include his wife, Mary J. Hudson; children, Christina (Kenny) Hamm of Luverne and Doyle Donald Hudson of Greenville; parents, Doyle Donald and Marema D. Hudson of Selma; grandmother, Margerite Wesson of Selma; sisters, La-Veta Robinson (Billy) of Selma and Marilyn H. (Gregory) of Troy; one grandchild, Alexis Danielle Hamm of Luverne; and numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives.
William Robert Prewitte
William Robert “Bob” Prewitte, 80, of Potter Station died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at a nursing home in Atmore.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 26, at Pineview Cemetery in Selma, with Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Prewitte of Atmore, formerly of Potter Station; one son, Mike (Donna) Prewitt of Potter Station; three daughters, Lana Williams of England, Cathy (Roy) Williams and Teri (Ronnie) Peterson all of Atmore; one sister, Mirian Phillips of Jackson, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren, Lori Moore, Chanda Prewitt, Megan Amerson, Stacey Plant, Eric Broadbent, Phillip Prewitt, Lauren Williams, Rachael Prewitt, Dylan Broadbent and Tyler Broadbent; four great-grandchildren, Madison and Macey Amerson and Tanner and Madelyn Plant.
Mr. Prewitte, retired from Miller Lumber Co. He was born on Dec. 28, 1923 in Saulsbury, Tenn., to the late Wiley D. and Lillian Ethel Smith Prewitte. He was a veteran of World War II.
Lurline Jones Mott
Lurline Jones Mott, 86, died Monday, March 29, 2004, at a local hospital.
Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, at New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, at Lawrence Funeral Home.
Survivors will be announced later.
Virginia Stewart
Virginia Stewart, 86, of Thomaston, died Friday, March 26, at a Demopolis hospital.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at the Chapel of Larkin and Scott Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Fountain officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home of Demopolis directing.
Dock Williams
Dock Williams, 68, of Nyack, N.Y., formerly of Jefferson, died Monday, March 22, 2004, at a nursing home in Ramapa, N.Y.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 29, at Moscow Baptist Church in Demopolis, with the Rev. John Watkins officiating. Burial followed n the churchyard cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.
