A volley of gun shots sent shoppers scurrying back into Winn-Dixie and ducking for cover in the parking lot near Central Park on Highland Avenue Thursday night.

Whether the shots were fired in the air or at a car parked in the drive through of the restaurant was unclear at presstime, but witnesses reported that shots were fired from Highway 14 in the direction of the parking lot.

Though no arrests had been made as of presstime, Green indicated that the police did have a suspect in mind.

Green also indicated that at this point, the suspect faced charges of reckless endangerment.

The shooter/shooters were reported to have fled the scene in the direction of the bypass.
