Annie Pearl Shannon
Annie Pearl Shannon, of Selma, died Saturday, March 13, 2004.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie A. Wight officiating and Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.
She was born March 18, 1920 to Ulas and Mary Pearl in Hazen (Dallas County).
Survivors include five devoted children, Henry (Lillie) of Selma, Mary Ann (Charles) of Huntsville, Herbert (Amy), Harry and Edward Shannon all of Selma; eight grandchildren, Barbara, Henry III, Andre, LaShawna , Nicovonna, Herbert, Jr., William and Maurice; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Emma Williams of Gary, Ind., Irma (James) Grace of Detroit, Mich., and Laura Howard of Chicago, Ill.; three sisters in-law, Margaret Dawson and Mary People of Selma, and Thelma (Earl) of Asbury Park, N. J.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
We will cherish her memories and she will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
Mrs. Shannon, was the oldest of seven children of which one sister and two brothers preceded her in death.
She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Aimwell Baptist Church, Hazen, AL. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Rev. Henry W. Shannon, Sr. after which she joined the New Hope Baptist Church where she served as a faithful and dedicated servant until her home going.
Albert Sidney Champion Sr.
Albert Sidney Champion Sr., 85, of Selma, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at a local hospital.
Graveside services are at 10 a.m. Friday, March 19, at Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Al Finch officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include son, Albert S. Champion Jr. of Selma; daughters, Mary Jo Young and Diane Griffith both of Atlanta; brother, Cornelius Champion of Headland; sister, Helen Myers of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren, Shannon Hall of Gainesville, Ga., Macon McCormick of Brandon, Miss., Chip Griffith
of
Tuscaloosa and Mary Harriet Bynog of Shreveport, La.; great-grandchildren, Mary Cathryn Hall and Alex Hall both of Gainesville, Ga., and Hannah McCormick of Brandon, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers are Ray Champion, Rick Champion, Chip Griffith, Macon McCormick, Roger Champion and Bob Myers.
