Marvin Sumerlin, 81, of Burnsville, died Sunday, February 22, 2004, at a local hospital..

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, at New Live Oak Cemetery with Dr. Glenn Langner and Rev. Phillip Wood III officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Marion M. Sumerlin of Burnsville; daughter, Brenda S. (Philip) Wood of Statesville; sons, Mackey (Ann) Sumerlin and Patrick (Margaret) Sumerlin; grandchildren, Natalie Wood, Stephanie W. (Darren) Motley, Phil (Sheila) Wood IV, Justin Sumerlin, Cody Sumerlin and Zachary Sumerlin; sister-in-law, Jessie Sumerlin of Huntsville; great-grandchildren, Haley and Blaire Motley, Kennedy Wood and Philip Wood V; five nieces; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry G. and Maggie Sumerlin, brother, Malcolm Sumerlin, sister, Ruby C. McCollum and a nephew, Gary Sumerlin.

Active pallbearers are Philip Wood IV, Justin Sumerlin, Patrick Sumerlin, Charles McCollum David Moore and Steve Moore.

Honorary pallbearers are Curtis Godwin, Jim Trantham and Melvin Sumerlin.
