Police chase ends in injuries

Selma police arrested Eric Peterson Tuesday evening after a high-speed chase led to a two-car collision that seriously injured four people on the Highway 80 Bypass.
State Trooper John Reese said at approximately 2:50 p.m., Selma police officer Evelyn Ghant and another unmarked police unit began a routine traffic stop on a 1993 silver Chevrolet Lumina.
The police officers followed in a high speed pursuit along Alabama Avenue and Lavender Street before the vehicle entered onto the bypass.
The identity of the driver of the 2000 model Dodge was not available at press time.
Reese said the two children received minor injuries, as did other male in the Chevrolet.
Reese said the victim inside the Dodge Neon sustained very serious injuries.
All of the victims were taken to Vaughan Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Reese was unable to confirm their exact medical status.
The driver of the Chevrolet was identified as Eric Peterson.
The suspect was transported to the Selma Police Department and an investigation is underway.
