Movies scheduled for the remainder of February are Spencer’s Mountain, starring Henry Fonda on Feb. 17, and &uot;The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter&uot; starring Alan Arkin on Feb. 24. &uot;The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter&uot; was filmed on location in Selma. Information on March movies will soon be released, she said.

On Feb. 29 the movie program, sponsored by the City of Selma through the Performing Arts Centre and the Downtown Selma Association, will add a new segment, &uot;Movie Sunday,&uot; for the general public, with families in Selma and Dallas County especially invited. The first movie to be shown, at 2 p.m. at the Performing Arts Centre, will be &uot;The Swiss Family Robinson.&uot;

Windham is hopeful that the new monthly Sunday series will be well attended and will now allow everyone in the community to enjoy wholesome classic films.

The suggested donation is $1 and free popcorn and soft drinks are offered.

The senior movie program began last year on a monthly basis and expanded to weekly in January. The idea originated with Mayor James Perkins Jr., according to Kay Jones, property manager/public building facilitator for the City of Selma, whose office is located in the centre. Funding for the movie program comes from the City of Selma, the Downtown Selma Association, downtown merchants and individuals.
