An Orrville man sits in the Dallas County Jail under $100,000 bond after being charged with trafficking cocaine and unlawful possession of marijuana first degree.

Members of the Fourth Judicial Circuit drug task force and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department arrested Cedric Dewayne Young, 27, on Thursday after stopping him for allegedly speeding down Alabama Highway 22 West at 110 mph. According to Fourth Judicial Circuit District Attorney Ed Greene, drug task force members Pat Grindle and Larry Colston were in the area working on a drug-related investigation.

Greene said that authorities asked Young for his driver’s license, which was in his right shirt pocket. According to police reports, Young also allegedly pulled marijuana from his pocket, which he threw to the ground.

Young was then placed under arrest.

Greene noted that Young also had $600 at the time of his arrest.

Police reports state that authorities obtained permission from Young to search his residence at 100 County Rd. 955 in Orrville. After searching, they allegedly found $12,000 worth of crack-cocaine, four prescription pills and $2,900. The substance believed to be crack-cocaine was discovered near dog houses outside the residence.

According to police reports, a shotgun was also found.

“It’s a pretty good bust,” Greene said. “The amount of cocaine he possessed is sufficient to hold him for trafficking.”

After giving a statement, authorities transported Young to the Dallas County Jail.

Greene said that Young currently has a felony conviction on appeal.

It’s expected Young will appear before Dallas County District Court Judge Nathaniel Walker this week, though no date has yet been set.
