Eddie C. Patterson

Deacon Eddie C. Patterson, 70, of Selma, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004.

Services are at noon Saturday, Feb. 14, at Beech Island M.B. Church with the Rev. Clinton Peebles officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie J. Patterson; three sons, Leonard Robinson, Eddie Patterson Jr. and Dexter Patterson; a daughter, Rosie Jemison; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; three daughters-in-law; seven brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and a host of nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Rosa Patterson, two sons, John Patterson and Roger Patterson,

Active pallbearers are family and friends.

Family visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Jerry Perkins Sr.

Jerry Perkins Sr., 48, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at a veteran hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Morning Star Baptist Church with the Rev. B.T. Booker officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include, devoted companion, Michelle Linden; one son, Jerry Perkins III (Monica) of Birmingham; three daughters, Amber, Veronica and Ashley all of Selma; one brother, Joseph Harris (Sebrina)of Selma; six sisters, Yolanda Cole (Ronald) of Houston, Texas, Ora Lewis (John Willie), Deloise Wallace (Jessie Louis), Carolyn Marshall, Gloria Gamble and Freddie Craig, all of Selma; his loving father, Richard Eldridge, of Selma; a devoted aunt who reared him, Mrs. Minnie B. Pompey of Selma; also, Sadie Cummings, of Kentucky, Earnestine Thomas, Josephine Hawkins (James), Roberta Johnson, all of Birmingham, Jerrylene Moore (James) of Summerfield and Mattie Parker of Alaska; three uncles, .Laymon Morrison, of Dayton, Ohio, Lewis Morrison of St. Paul Minn., and Marion Menniefield (Callie), of Selma of Selma; extended family, Johnnie Gullette (Bernice), Earline Norris all of Detroit, Mich., Annie Pickney (Bert), Gloria Pompey, Shirley Lewis (Gary), Gwendolyn Haith, Linda Pompey, Ulyless Pompey (Mary Nell), Willie Pompey (Pam); devoted cousin, Nathaniel Rogers (Vivian) and other relatives and friends.

Outspoken, humorous, and loved by many were some of the words used to describe Jerry Perkins (&8220;Blue Moon&8221;), who was born Dec. 5, 1955. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hattie Harris, and step-father, Joseph Harris.

Jerry received his education in the Selma City School System, and Dallas County School System. He furthered his studies at Wallace Community College Selma.

Lauren Hobson Melton

Lauren &8220;Scoot&8221; Hobson Melton, 50, formerly of Selma, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004..

Services are at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 13, at the Resthaven Funeral Home in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include her mother Mary Inn Hobson of Pensacola, Fla.; her three children, Christy Melton Locket, Mary Melton and Dustin Melton, all of Oklahoma City; and a granddaughter, Katie Locker, also of Oklahoma City; her brother and his wife, Glen and Christy Hobson of Alabaster and their children; former husband Al Melton; and her good friend Dean Brown.

She will be greatly missed. &8220;ROLL TIDE ROLL’

Johnie Ruckman Jr.

Johnie Ruckman Jr., 59, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004,

Graveside services are at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Al Finch officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his father, Johnie Ruckman Sr. of Selma; his mother, Edith Green Ruckman of Selma; his wife, Betty Ruckman of Lowndesboro; one son, Kenton Ruckman of Lowndesboro; one daughter, Lisa Ruckman of Lowndesboro; one brother, Timothy Ruckman of Selma; one sister, Melinda (David) Pruitt of Birmingham.

Family visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at Selma Funeral Home.

Mozell Jenkins

Mozell Jenkins, 88, of Ft. Deposit, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Chapel of Bell Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy J. Tolliver officiating. Burial will follow in Jenkins Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Doro Dykes, 60, of Coatopa, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at a Washington D.C. hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Coatopa. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.
