Louvenia Green

Louvenia Green, 83, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 1p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Mt. Zion P.B. Church, 1306 Union St., with the Rev. Bryan Starks officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral directing.

Survivors include her husband, William Green; one daughter, Mary M. Powell; six grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren; special god-daughter, Gloria Reese.

Active pallbearers are Earl K. Powell, Greg Ammons, Danny Pettiway, Ernest Harold, James Atkins, Ralph Pruitt and Audwin Pipes.

Honorary pallbearers are Danny Pettiway Jr., Aaron Powell Jr., Angelo Powell Sr., John Waller, Robert L. Turner Jr.

Family visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Green affectionately known as &8220;Honey&8221; and &8220;Mama Green&8221; by family and friends. She was born Feb. 20, 1920, to the late Evan Jones and Emeline Payton

in Elgin. She confessed Christ at an early age at Mt. Moriah P.B. Church in Orrville under the Rev. Simms. In 2001, she joined Mt. Zion P.B. Church and has been a faithful member until her death. Her passion was singing for the Lord. She sung with the Soul of Selma and was seen on TV and heard on radio every Sunday.

Frank Ford

Frank Ford, 76, of Sardis, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at a local hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by J.H. Williams

and Sons Funeral Home.

Lelia M. Cooper

Lelia M. Cooper, 92, of Selma, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Morning Star Baptist Church with the Rev. B.T. Booker officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two sons, John Wesley (Myrtlene) Hall of Selma and Melvin (Wyzola) King of Birmingham; 56 grandchildren 63 great-grandchildren; 42 great-great-grandchildren; five nephews; two nieces; other relatives.

Active pallbearers are nephews and friends.

Mrs. Cooper was born on Sept. 13, 1911, in Perry County to the late Lula and Sam Sturdivant. She confessed Christ at an early age and united with Shady Grove Baptist Church in Perry County, later relocating to Selma, joining Morning Star M.B. Church

and serving as an usher.
