A Saturday afternoon brush fire in Valley Grande ended with little more than four acres of burned sage field.

Members of the Valley Grande, Summerfield and Potters Station Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a call around 2:20 p.m. on Saturday.

Upon arriving about a minute after the summons, they discovered the field behind 7619 Highway 22 on fire.

According to Box, the fire was contained in about five minutes.

A trash fire behind a mobile home was the apparent cause of the fire. Box, though, noted that he didn’t think any penalties would be imposed.
