Lucinda B. Hasberry, of Beloit, died Thursday, January 29, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Monday, February 2, at Mt. Calvary AME Church, Beloit, with the Rev. Amos Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery in Beloit, with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two brothers, Bob Bowers of San Antonio, Texas and Sam Bowers (Mary) of Selma; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; 18 nephews; 16 nieces; and aunt, Elvira Molette.

Active pallbearers are church members and friends in the community.

Mrs. Hasberry was the “Mother of the Church, member of Senior Choir, member of Missionary Society Patrons of Ambassadors for Christ and Ambassador’s Playhouse.

Mary Dell Chambers

Mary Dell Chambers, 50, of Newbern, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at a Greensboro Hospital.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at First Baptist Church of Newbern, Rev. James Williams, pastor; Rev. Mark Adams, officiating. Burial will follow at the Battle and Bryant Cemetery.

Preceding her in death; her parents The Late Jessie Lee Wormley-Davis and the Late L.D. Leonard, a daughter Susie Mae Chambers; 2 brothers, Andrew & James Davis, and 1 sister, Ida Mae Williams.

Mary accepted Christ at a young age and later joined Mt. Valley AME Zion Church in Newbern, AL, where she served faithful until she was called home.

Cherishing he memories and loving her still are: 4 children, Sarah Chambers of Uniontown, Eddie Chambers of Tuscaloosa, Katrina Chambers of Greensboro, and Barbara Chambers of Newbern. She also leaves to cherish 8 loving grandchildren, Marquez Lee, Darnesha Harris, Braland Johnson, Kevin Fikes, Tramesha Fikes, Jaedon Chambers, Toreace Edwards and Eddie Chambers, III; 7 devoted sisters, Dora Williams, Annie Mae Norfleet both of Uniontown, AL; Lizzie Davis, Annie Bell Davis, Willie Ann Davis, and Leola (Nathaniel) Carter all of South Fallsburg, NY and Mary Louise Leonard of Ohio. 4 devoted brothers, Leo Davis of Worcester, MA, Matthew Davis, Frank (Cassandra) Davis both of Brooksville, FL and Johnny Davis of Monticello, NY; 2 aunts, Mary Paige of Marion Jct., AL and Ethel Lee Leonard of Brooksville, FL; 2 uncles, Abe Wormley, Jr. of Brooksville, FL and William Wormley of Mobile, AL. A devoted neighbor, Maggie Possey and 2 devoted friends, Mrs. Fannie Harper and Mrs. Odell Barron; 27 nieces, 15 nephews and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Lottie Mae Bonner Stokes

Lottie Mae Bonner Stokes, died Thursday, January 22, 2004, at her home.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 31, at First Baptist Church, Orrville, with the Rev. Curtis Williams officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include five children, two sons, Lawrence Stokes of Ft. Worth, Texas, her given son, Roosevelt Rayford of Orrville; three daughters, Louise (Will) Irby, Dorothy Ann Jones and Gloria Jean Jones of Orrville; five devoted step-children, Linda Blevins, Lula Mae (Ricky) Lewis, Dorothy Mac (Kenny) Perkins and Johnny Blevins of Selma and Connie Blevins of Beloit; three god-daughters, Louise James and Ella Mae Rogers, of Orrville and Evelyn Ray of Selma; one god-son, Clarence Simmons of Orrville; god-mother, Jessie Moreland of Orrville; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-.grandchildren;

and 12 great-great-grandchildren; one devoted granddaughter, Gloria Diane Jones of Orrville; a

devoted cousin, Mellie Booker of Orrville; a devoted friend, Hattie Pearl Pettway; one uncle and aunt; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Cornelius Bonner Stokes and one brother, Frank Bonner.

Mrs. Stokes was born on August 21, 1931, in Orrville, to the late Neil and Ethel Lou Bonner. Realizing the need for a savior, Lottie Mae confessed Christ at an early age and joined the First Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Shorts. She remained a faithful member until her health failed.

Clinton Peeples Jr.,

Clinton Peeples Jr., 25, of Jones, died Tuesday, January 27, 2004.

Services are at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 1, at Plantersville Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Clinton Peeples officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his parents, Clinton and Ruby Peeples Sr.; one daughter, Clinegue Zashari Peeples; one sister, Glendora (Randall) Moore; one brother-in-law; one niece, Deanna; one nephew, Obadiah; grandmother, Cora Edward; godparents, Elder James and Vera E. Beal; 18 aunts; nine uncles; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers are Selma Police Department.

Mr. Peeples, confessed Christ at an early age, and was a member of Plantersville Grove Baptist Church, and a member of St. Mark Masonic Lodge. He was an employee of the State of Alabama Highway Department.

Judith West Booker

Judith West Booker, 85, of Selma, died Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at a local hospital.

Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 31, at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Ira Blanchard officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include brother, Jesse “Mott” West of Selma; sister, Lady Kent (Bob) Zetwick of Walhalla, S.C.; sister-in-law, Eva Jo Booker of Selma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers are Lynn McAfee, Tommy King, Bobby Zetwick, Jimmy Zetwick, Marty Vice, Wes King, Jason King and Scott King.

Honorary pallbearer is Keith McAfee.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to made to Pisgah Presbyterian Church.

Lillian Viola Prescott Wyatt

Lillian Viola Prescott Wyatt, 83, died Friday, January 16, 2004, at her home.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, January 17, at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Thomas Fancher and Father Marc Vincent officiating.

Survivors include one son, Jimmy Wilson (Sharon) Wyatt of Robbins, Ga.; one daughter, Charmion Wyatt (Tommy) Brown; one brother, Frank Prescott of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Beatrice Prescott Troha of Selma; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Wyatt, brothers nad sisters, Vivan Prescott, Sidney Prescott, Gray Prescott, Tom Prescott and Leatrice Prescott Moseley.

Active pallbearers were Sam Brown, Burt Osborn, Billy Osborn, Buddy Brown, Alan Roach and Joe Vinson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to Wiregrass Hospice or the Summerfield Baptist Church Ladies Ministry and the Gideons.

Warren Dickinson

Warren Dickinson, 83, of Montgomery (formerly of Selma) died January 27, 2004, at his home.

Services are scheduled for Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at 11 a.m. , in the Chapel of J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. C. White.

Burial will follow in Edmund Cemetery in Selma.

Survivors include one sone, Anthony Dickinson; two daughtrs, Tara (Jesse) Fair, Ramona (Prentice) Tucker; one brother, Andrew (Ann) Dickinson; three grandchildren and a host of other relatives.

Trey Fair preceded him in death.

Larry Allen

Larry Allen of Orrville died Jan. 31,

2004, at his residence. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
