Lady Trojans fall in double OT to Monroe

Despite 32 points and 15 rebounds from star junior Haley McIntyre the Lady Trojans of Meadowview couldn’t overcome Monroe Monday night at home, falling

61-54.

The game came on the eve of Meadowview’s road showdown with the top-ranked team in the AISA, Kingwood and coach Mike Cassebaum’s squad may have been looking ahead. Monroe jumped out to a 14-0 before Meadowview got going.

“It was a heart-breaking loss,” Cassebaum said. “It was a game I was worried about, heading into tomorrow night’s big game.”

Ashton Smith had a good night for the Trojans with 9 points and 6 boards. Joni Lawrence added 9 points. Deavan Aultman had 4. Lauren Lazenby led with 31 points.

“We lost it at the free throw line Monroe shot 30, we shot 6,” Cassebaum said.

In the JV game, Monroe won 18-15. Carol Ann McIntyre had 9 points and Aultman had 6 points.
