Willie Mae Ross

Willie Mae Ross, 78, of Selma, died Wednesday, January 7, 2004, at a

local hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Monday, January 12, at West Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. A. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one daughter, Eva Jean Brown (Clyde); grandchildren, Michelle Mitchell ( Micheal), Carletta Jones, Stefanie Davies (Charles) and Desmond Brown; five great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; two nephews; five nieces; special cousin, Alberta Thomas.

Active pallbears are family and friends.

John D. DeVan

&uot;Dee&uot; Dejournette Devan, of Reno, Nev., formerly of Selma, died Thursday, December 25, 2003.

Private funeral services were held in Reno.

Survivors include his aunt, Evelyn Wynne Kynard of Selma; niece, Betsy DeVan of Birmingham; nephews, C. Wynne DeVan of Birmingham, Joe DeVan of Bay Minette; and half-sister, Deena Loper of Bay Minette.

Mr. DeVan a W.W.II veteran was preceded in death by his parents John D. and Mildred Wynne DeVan, and his bother Charles W. DeVan (Mary Lee) all of Selma.

The family request in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Humane Society or one’s favorite charity.

Lucy M. Walker

Lucy M. Walker, 79, of Selma, died January 5, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services will be held January 13 at 1 p.m. at the Morning Star Baptist Church. The Rev. Booker T. Booker will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Garden.

Ms. Walker is survived by a son, Emmanuel Walker, Selma; stepson, Willie George Simth, Washington, D.C.; sister, Anna Amanda Dillard, Cleveland, Ohio; four sisters-in-law and a number of neices, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Walker.

Martie Lee Cook

Martie Lee Cook, 86, of Charlotte, North Carolina, formerly of Selma, died Friday, January 9, 2004, at a Charlotte hospital.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 12, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery.

Aline Lemoine Steele

Aline Lemoine Steele, 87, of Selma, died Saturday, January 10, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 11 in New Live Oak Cemetery. Dr. Ron Stone will officiate.

Survivors include daughter, Rivars (Pinkney) Jackson, Fairhope, a grandson, granddaughter, a great-granddaughter and a great-grandson.

Mrs. Steele was preceded in death by her husband, C.W. Steele.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Pro-Life Christian Ministry Sav-A-Life, P.O. Box 1610, Robertsdale, AL, 36567.

The family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2004.
