After getting off to a slow start and falling behind by nearly 30 points in the second half, the Wallace-Selma Patriots showed some heart in battling back at home Thursday night.

While Wallace-Hanceville held on for the 100-90 win, the Pats made the score respectable with a strong second-half effort.

Strong second halves from Quindel Givan, Steadman Ward, Brons Anderson and Beau McKinney helped the Pats fight back.

Givan finished with 20, including four 3-pointers.

Ward had 16 points, all but 3 of those came in the second half.

Anderson finished with 13 points and 10 boards.

McKinney had 11 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks.

For the Lions, C. Burkett led the charge with 27 points and M. Nance added 20 points.

Wallace-Hanceville had four players in double figures.

Despite falling to 0-7 on the season, the way his team fought back gave Hines something positive to build on.

Wayne Garrett had 13 points in the losing effort for Selma while David Clark added 7.

Ben Johnson finished with 6 points.
