Regina Davis Wiliams

Regina Davis Wiliams, 48, of Selma, died Dec. 23, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services will be held Dec. 30, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Morning Star M.B. Church officiated by the Rev. B.T. Booker, Jr. Burial will be at the Fairlawn Memory Garden directed by Lewis Brothers.

Survivors include her husband, Ellis Williams Sr., parents Mrs. Luvenia Davis, two sons, Ellis Williams, Jr., DeWan Williams; daughter, Racquel Williams; four brothers, Rayfield Davis’ Charles Davis, Selma; Brent Davis; Tommy Davis, California; three sisters, Dorothy Pritchett; Michelle Walker; LaChune Simpson, all of Selma; one grandchildren, one daughter-in-law; six brother-in-laws, five sister-in-laws, seven nephews, 12 nieces, two aunts, two uncles and a host of relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Deacons and men of the church. Honorary pallbearers will be her sons, brothers and brother-in-laws.

Ms. Williams was preceded in death by her father, Rayfield Davis Sr., brother, Jimmy Lewis Davis.

She was a very active member of the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church since the age of 12.

Mary Ann Teacher-Gunter

Mary Ann Teacher-Gunter, 51, of Gallion, died Dec. 21, 2003, at Bryan Whitfield Hospital.

Services will be held Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Allenville. The Rev. James Murdock will officiate. Interment will follow in Allenville Cemetery. The remains will repose at the church on Sunday, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Public viewing will be held Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

Survivors include husband, James E. Gunter, Jr.; four children, Christopher Gunter, Faunsdale; Eric Gunter, Washington, D.C.; Maurice Gunter, Anchorage; Henry

Gunter, Gaillion, two sisters, Evelyn Gray, Bronx, N.Y.; Merion T. Robinson; Gallion, three brothers, Martin Smith, Faunsdale; Henry Teacher, Moore, Oklahoma; Willie Teacher, Faunsdale; one uncle, a host of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Samuel Hargress

The Rev. Samuel Hargress of Demopolis, died Dec. 25, 2003, at his residence. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Joey Lee Copeland

Joey Lee Copeland of Irvington, died Dec. 25, 2003, in Mobile.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003. in the Chapel of Serenity Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, in New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. John Ackerman and Dr. Kenny Hatcher officiating.

Survivors include a brother, Norman Copeland, Selma; sister, Gaynell Clark, Irvington; daughter, Tiara Copeland, Selma and son Terry Copeland, Selma.

He was preceded in death by his niece and one sister.

Dorothy Wilson Reese

Dorothy &uot;Dot&uot; Wilson Reese died Dec. 25, 2003, at her home in Carlton, Georgia.

Services will be held Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at LaFayette First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at new Live Oak Cemetery on Monday, Dec. 29 at 11:30 a.m.

Survivors include husband, Jo Reese, brother Earl C. Wilson Jr., Pensacola, Florida, four children, Keene L. Reese, Atlanta, Georgia; Karen Stubblefield, Valley Springs, California; Pippy Howell, LaFayette, Emily Williams, Ponte Vedra Beath, Florida; six grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ms. Reese was an avid golfer and bridge player and was active in her church and community.

Donations may be made to LaFayette First United Methodist Church, 104 LaFayette St., LaFayette, AL 36863, the Alzheimer’s Association or Chambers County Hospital.

Dewitte Talmadge Holland

Dewitte &uot;Dutch&uot; Talmadge Holland died Dec. 24, 2003.

Services will be held Monday, Dec. 29 at the First Presbyterian Church in Birmingham. Viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. and memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held at 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow at noon, in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East in Trussville.

Survivors include sons, Samuel Stingon Holland, Dallas; John Kenneth Seymour Holland, Los Angeles, California; Daniel Lamberth Holland of Bloomington, Illinois; Pin Yun Li, Houston, Texas; and nine grandchildren.

Mr. Holland was the son of Talmadge Holland and Lou Mae Breckenridge Holland. He graduated from Woodlawn High School and Howard College. He was an officer commissioned by the Merchant Marine Academy in 1946 and served in the Navy in World War II. He held a master’s degree, a Bachelor of Divinity and a Ph.D. from Northwestern. He and his wife served Presbyterian churches in Texas, Delaware and Pennsylvania, as well as several teaching positions.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian of Birmingham, 2100 Fourth Ave. N, Birmingham, AL.

Glenn Yelverton James

Glenn Yelverton James, 25, of Memphis, Tenn. formerly of Selma, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Memphis Regional.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at Church Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. George Sedberry and the Rev. Allen McBride officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his father, Glenn K. James, wife Karen; mother, Terri Yelverton, husband Melvin; brothers, Matt James; Trey Yelverton; stepsister Lee Henry; grandmother, Carolyn Westbrook; special friend, Emily Sullivan and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mr. James was preceded in death by his grandparents, Francis Tarleton James, Geneva Yelverton James, Rufus Jones and Ruby Jones.

Mr. James graduated from Morgan Academy in 1996. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel Management from the University of Alabama in 2001. He was employed at O’Charley’s in Memphis.

Active pallbearers include John Flannagan, Kevin Nichols, Hugh Perry, Casey Corder, Morris Barten and David James.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association. The Family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003.

Calvin Bernard Blevins

Calvin Bernard Blevins, 49, 0f Detroit, Michigan, died Dec. 24, 2003, at Grace Hospital.

Services are scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery.
