Thomas Bowdoin Robins

Dr. Thomas Bowdoin Robins, 76, of Mathews, died Monday, December 22, 2003, at a Montgomery Hospital.

Services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 24, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Tate officiating. Burial followed in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife Cathy Stuart Robins; sons, Thomas Robins Jr. of Dothan, Andy Robins of Gulf Shores and Brooks (Annette) Robins of Seattle, Wash.; step-son, Llew (Mary Ellen) Rollins of Sardis; daughters, Mary Beth (Steve) Morris of Alabaster and Monica Friday Shoemaker of Mathews; step-daughter, Beth (John) Carter of Ocean Springs, Miss.; mother-in-law, Gladis Stuart; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Dr. Rollins was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Robins Rainer and his parents, John Littleton Bowdoin Robins and Mildred Wilkerson Robins.

Active pallbearers are Llew Rollins, Steve Morris, Baxter Elzey, Woody Till III, James Alison and John Bryan Hale.

Honorary pallbearers are Wood Till Jr., Dr. Evans Alison, Dr. James Alison, Art Gleason, Joe Allen, Bill Crane, Jack Brunson, Johnny Hale, Fred Paulk, Dr. Sam Saliba, Dr. Walter Geary and Dr. Don Overstreet.

Pinkie Givhan

Pinkie Givhan, 85, of Selma, died Sunday, December 21, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 27, at Little Canaan P.B. Church with Elder Melvin E. Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Salem P.B. Church with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two brothers, Roosevelt (Christine) Givhan of Fairfield and Benjamin (Mildred) Givhan.

Active pallbearers are nephews.

Honorary pallbearers are Deacons of Little Canaan P.B. Church.

Mrs. Givhan was born on September 18, 1918, in Orrville, Dallas County, to the late Lovell and Mary Givhan. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Salem P.B. Church. Later she united with Little Canaan P.B. Church.

During her formative years she attended and graduated from Dallas County Training School in Beloit. She devoted 40 years of service to the Fathers of St. Edmund as a mail clerk before retiring in 1983. She was active in her church, she was as Sunday school teacher.

Thomas Cleve Hawkins

Thomas Cleve Hawkins, 54, of Selma, died Monday, December 22, 2003, at a Montgomery hospital.

Services are at 10 a.m. Friday, December 26, at Church Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. George Sedberry officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Cemetery in Goodwater, with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Gail Hughes Hawkins of Selma; sons, William Cleve Hawkins and Matthew Thomas Hawkins and wife Whitney B. Hawkins; daughter, Marilyn Renee Hawkins; mother, Jane Neighbors Hawkins; sisters, Barbara (George) Hemphill, Ray (Jim) Nail and Dona (Doug) Patterson; brother, W.T. &uot;Sonny&uot; Hawkins Jr.

Active pallbearers are Randy Lovelady, Dr. Kent Taylor and Jack Moseley.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Mr. Hawkins was a certified public accountant and chief financial officer of Alagold Corporation in Montgomery. He was a member of Church Street United Methodist Church where he sang tenor in the choir. He earned degrees in agricultural economics and in accounting from Auburn University.

Edna Herrod Ousley,

Edna Herrod Ousley, 85, of Plantersville, died Monday, December 22, 2003.

Services were at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 24, at Alpine Baptist Church. Plantersville, with the Rev. Billy Wyatt and the Rev. William Earl Short officiating. Burial followed in Alpine Baptist Church Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include six sons, Bill (Faye) Ousley of Billingsley, James (Bobbie) Ousley of Prattville, Gene (Brenda) Ousley of Clanton, Danny (Gloria) Ousley, Wayne (Libby) Ousley all Plantersville, Charles (Pam) Ousley of Maplesville; three daughters, Brenda Klinner of Daphne, Mary (Tony) Nichols of Plantersville, Edna (Billy) Hester of

Billingsley; one daughter-in-law, Sandra (Charlie) Maples of Loxley; 25 grandchildren; 38 great- grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Olga (Martin) Ousley of Mobile and Elsie (Homer) Boor of Plantersville; sister-in-law, Molly Smith, Clanton.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce Ousley, son Joe Ousley, and daughter Martha Ousley.

Frances Louise Wilkinson, 79, of Linden, died Sunday, December 21, 2003, in Faunsdale.

Survivors include five daughters, Mary Louise (Clayton) Egbert of Selma, Jessie (Clarence) Egbert of York, Lany Jeannette (Melvin) McPherson of Gallion, Nancy (Terry) Kearley of Livingston, Jean (David) Diamond of Linden; six sons, Willie (Daisy) Wilkinson of Linden, Paul (Jayne) Wilkinson of Demopolis, Moses (Wanda) Wilkinson of Linden, Joe (Audrey) Wilkinson of Uniontown, Ben (Sandra) Wilkinson of Gallion, and Curtis (Pam) Wilkinson of Providence; two sisters, Helen Sheffield of Thomaston and Betty (Buck) Duke of Linden; one brother, Lamar Godwin of Tacoma, Wash.; 33 grandchildren; 33 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Amorite Wilkinson and a son, Leland Burge.

Annie Lee Shortridge

Annie Lee Shortridge, 95, of Selma, died Wednesday, December 23, 2003, at a local nursing home.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 27, at Second Baptist Church, 2809 Hardie Ave., with the Rev. Darryl Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include a step-daughter, Equilla Bryant (Joe) of Selma; one adopted daughter, Ollie Thicklin of West Palm Beach, Florida; two special nieces, Norwetta Jenkins and Belle Henley of Buffalo, N.Y.; a niece, Mary Underwood of Selma; a nephew, Issac Strong (Jackie) of Selma; an extended family, Mrs. Margie Garsnell and R V Seymore and Family; and a host of step-nieces, step-nephews and cousins.

Ms. Shortridge was preceded in death by her sister, Beatrice Beverly, brothers, Issac Squire and Mack Dee Squire.

Lura Mae Hughes

Lura Mae Hughes, 96, of Selma, died Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at a nursing home.

Services are at 1 p.m. Friday, December 26, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary C. Mosby; daughter-in-law, Maureen Hughes; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.,

Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her mother, Ingie Carter, her father, Robert Carter and sons, James E. Hughes and Willard L. Hughes.

Ella R. Edwards

Ella R. Edwards, 89, of Selma, died Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at a Montgomery hospital.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 27, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Sonny Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home.

Survivors include children, Ellis (Charlotte) Edwards of Elmore, Walter (Brenda) Edwards of Selma, Billy (Deannie) Edwards of Millbrook, Carol (Dennis) White of Selma, Steve (Linda) Edwards and Gloria (Butch) Ward of Millbrook; brother, Davis Oakes of Montgomery; sister, Mattie Lee Edwards of Selma; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, William Bradley Edwards, son, James Larry Edwards and granddaughter Katrina Edwards Thomas.

Nell V. Brown, 88, of Jones, died Wednesday, December 23, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 28, at Figtree Baptist Church with the Rev. Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrison Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, J.C. Vinson; one brother, Charlie Vinson; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; one sister-in-law, Ethel Vinson; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
