ORRVILLE&045;Down 30-27 entering the third period, Southside coach Velton Robinson turned to a full court trap and a motion offense that sparked his young team to a 66-59 upset of

Central-Hayneville in the semi-finals of the Dallas County Holiday Tournament in Orrville.

Freshman Jamarcus Hardy ignited the Panther run with a long range 3-pointer and Jeffrey Anderson went to work in the paint.

Anderson wowed the crowd at Keith High School with a beautiful spin move that resulted in a old-fashioned three-point play and a 33-30 lead midway through the quarter.

Central turned the ball over several times against the Panther press and Travis Shine, Darryl Watts and Anderson controlled the boards.

Shine’s putback on the third try lifted Southside to a 42-40 lead entering the final stanza.

With the Panthers leading 53-48 with just under four minutes

remaining, Robinson dictated his troops into a spread

offense.

Hardy and Shine came through under heavy pressure from the Lions.

DeAndre Miller and Anderson were the recipients of easy baskets and free-throw opportunities as the guard

tandem penetrated and dished to the big men down low.

Anderson, Hardy and Shine converted 14 of 22 down the stretch to half off the highly touted Lions.

Southside advanced to take on host Keith, a 61-51 winner over Dallas County.

Southside and Keith met late in the championship round on Saturday night.
