Teams looking for the secret to beating the second-ranked Selma High Lady Saints know one key is shutting down inside presence Kim Wilson.

However, that’s harder then it sounds. Wilson the Lady Saints were 13-0 on the season before they hosted Carver on Tuesday.

Between Wilson and running mate Santana Seay Carver never stood a chance.

With Wilson scoring 25 and Seay scoring 22, Selma took the 79-67 victory.

Carver scored a bucket early, then hit a three to push the lead to 5-0.

That was all the Saints would put up with.

Wilson, the Pride of Selma High, scored and the silky-smooth Seay tied it up with a trifecta.

The Saints never looked back.

Wilson had 9 first quarter points.

Guard Shameka Simpson took over from there, running the offense efficiently.

The Saints controlled play throughout.

With 2:25 left in the contest, Carver cut the lead to 8 at 67-59 and they weren’t through.

Carver scored on a put back

and a free throw to cut the lead to 67-62.

Seay wasn’t about to give up the lead.

She shook a pair of Carver defenders and laid the ball up and in for two.

Fabulous freshman Erica Lumpkin came in and drove to the basket for two more.

Simpson sealed the victory.

Wilson had 25 and Seay scored 22.

Simpson finished with 13 as did Lumpkin.

Ashley Green scored 6.

The Lady Saints will play Dec. 27 in the Lauderdale County Christmas Tournament at noon.

They will play the winner of Vinemont and Muscle Shoals.
