Lady Hornets dominate Hold, 57-9

Coach Roxanne Jones and her Dallas County Hornets put on a dominating display Friday night against Holt.

The Lady Hornets jumped out to the lead and never looked back as they took the 57-9 win.

Takara Stewart, Tiffany Harrell, and Valencia King combined for 24 first quarter points and the Hornets never looked back.

cleared her bench early as her squad improved to 2-4 and 1-1 in Class 4-A, Area 7 play.

Corneshia McGhee added 9 points and 5 steals in the winning effort. Takara Stewart had 12 points, Valencia King had 19 points and 6 steals. Tiffany Harvell added 6 and Tiffany Eaton had 2. Ebony Acoff scored 5 points while Tiffany Harris

had 2 points.

The improving Hornets resume play Tuesday evening at Keith.

Francis Marion 63,

Aliceville 41

Qwenisha Arrington led the way with

26 points as she led Francis Marion’s Lady Rams past Aliceville, 63-41.

Arrington also had 10 steals and 6 assists in the winning effort. Angelica Trimble scored 17 points and

Miyoko Sims had 16 rebounds.

Now 3-1 on the season

and 1-0 in the area, the Rams’ next game is Tuesday night against Greensboro at home.

Betrica Boykins had 18 for Aliceville.

Meadowview 36,

Wilcox 30

In a defensive battle, it was Meadowview’s Haley McIntyre made the difference.

She finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds.

Joni Lawrence had 5 points for the Lady Trojans. Ashton Smith and Casey Burton had 4 points each. Elyse McIntyre had 3 points

and 2 assists.

Meadowview was 12 of 18 from the free throw line. Meadowview never trailed in the second half as the Trojans advanced to 6-1

Victoria Collins had 12 for Wilcox.

Francis Marion 84,

Aliceville 58

Four players grabbed a double-double as Woodie Jackson’s Francis Marion team beat Aliceville, 84-58.

Sophomore John Williams

had 10 points 10 rebounds.

Dwayne Woods had 20 points and 11 rebounds. Julius Allgood had 16 and 11 rebounds. Courtney Sewell had 15 points and 11 boards.

The Rams improved to 1-0 in area and 5-1 overall.

Aliceville was led by Brandon Rice with 16 points.

Larry Hall had 11 in the losing effort.

Francis Marion will host Greensboro on Tuesday.
