In the off-season, a championship run would have been greatly unexpected.

But, led by a strong senior class, the Senators had a great summer and by fall, Gartman saw the makings of a championship caliber squad.

Now, just two steps away from the title, Gartman says his players believe as well.

At this point, Gartman said that anything less than a state title will be disappointing.

But before they can go all the way, the Senators have to beat a tough Pickens County team on the road.

It’s a daunting task.

Add to that a road trip to the school in the middle of nowhere and the Senators will have to rely on their experience.

On offense, Pickens is similar to the Senators.

The Senators have been a deep, talented squad all year.

They’ve had different players step up all season.

Some of the players that have stepped up recently are Blanton Callen and Eric Pilcher, according to their coach.

If the senators can get past Pickens, the Triple-Header in Movie Gallery Stadium at Troy State University awaits.
