A group of young children from Little Kids Child Development Center celebrated Halloween a little early this year with a trip to Cedar Hill Assisted Living.

On Thursday, around 20 3- and 4-year-olds spent their morning trick-or-treating with the Cedar Hill residents. As the seniors sat outside their rooms holding pumpkins full of candy, they were greeted by everything from a friendly lion cub to a fairy princess.

Linda Haygood, director of Little Kids, said she takes the children to visit at least three times each year.

The residents and staff at Cedar Hill seemed to appreciate the visit as much as the children. &uot;I really enjoy doing this,&uot; said Cedar Hill resident Willilou Butler. &uot;I’ve been looking forward to it. I have two grandsons of my own and I taught kindergarten for 20 years, so I really love kids.&uot;

Haygood said this is the first time she has brought the 3-year-old group along for the trick-or-treating.

All of the children were well-behaved and respectful during the visit, but most of them seemed a little shy around the seniors. When the group finally finished making their rounds at Cedar Hill, they came away with bags full of candy.

The youngsters were happy with their loot, especially since their pile would become even larger by the end of the week.

Haygood said after the trick-or-treating, the children were going to have a party at the center.
