Jerry Wheeler

Jerry &uot;Bulldog&uot; Wheeler, 50, of Paterson, N.J., formerly of Selma, died Saturday, October 4, 2003, in Paterson, N.J.

Services will be held on Friday, October 10, in New Jersey with LaGarnde Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Walker Wheeler of Selma; two sons, Antonio Wheeler of Paterson, N.J. and Montreal Brown of Atlanta, Ga.; one step-son, Tyrone Walker of Selma; one sister, Rev. Frankie Hutchins-Hood (Curtis) of Selma; one brother, Alvin Dosse (Ethel) of Mobile and four nieces;

He was preceded in death by his nephew, Alvin Dosse Jr. and his parents, Wilmore and Martha B. Hunter.

Mr. Wheeler was a 1971 graduate of the first integrated class at Selma High School.

Mary Alice S. Klinner

Mary Alice S. Klinner, 79, of Selma, died Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at a nursing home.

Graveside services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 9, at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Art Hartley officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include a son, C.R. Klinner; a stepson, C.L. Klinner of Mobile; daughters, Judy Wright and Elizabeth Crane; grandchildren, Paul Crane, Jake (Mary Jo) Wright, Isaac (Minge) Wright and Nicole Crane; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn King, Mallory Wright, Kayla Wright and Nancy Wright; brother, M.E. (Frances) Summerlin; nephews, Bucky and David Summerlin; niece, Debbie Smith; great-nephews, Mike Benton, Kenny Benton and Randy Benton.

She was preceded by in death by a grandson, Wayne D. (Bo) Crane.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Lillian Frances Matthews

Lillian Frances Matthews, 57, of Maplesville, died Monday, October 6, 2003, at a Birmingham hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, at the Chapel of martin Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Gatlin officiating and Martin Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, David Matthews, of Maplesville; son, James Howard Ray of Gulfport, Miss.; brothers, Bobby Seales and William Earl Seales both of Maplesville, Lewis Harold Seales of Camden and Charles Seales of Latrobe, Pa.; and a sister, Peggy Joyce Seales of Maplesville.

Myra Beth Spivey Long Bearden

Myra Beth Spivey Long Bearden, 77, of Crowne Nursing Home, died Thursday, October 2, 2003, at a hospital.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at the Chapel of Leak-Memory Funeral Home with the Rev. Warren Culver officiating.

Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery with Leak-Memory Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include three daughters, Peggy (Bo) Linn of Montgomery, Elaine (Bill) Mack of Deatsville and Deborah (Barry) Scott of Atlanta, Ga.; two sons, James Clay (Hester) Long Jr. of French Settlement, La., and Steve Long of Montgomery; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Calvin Long.

Active pallbearers were Gregg Linn, Garner Clark, David Guy and Chris May.

Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of Capitol Heights Baptist Church.
