Troy State coach Larry Blakeney was the guest of honor at Tuesday’s Selma Quarterback Club meeting.
Blakeney and his school have been in the national headlines lately for their big win over Marshall two weeks ago.
Blakeney said he was happy to be in Selma.
The coach who played under Ralph &uot;Shug&uot; Jordan at Auburn has been around football in the southeast for 34 years.
For the past decade Blakeney has been involved in moving Troy State first to Division 1-AA, then to Division-1.
The Trojans play one of the nation’s toughest schedules.
The past week they played Nebraska.
They’ve also played nationally ranked Minnesota, Kansas State and a tough non-ranked Marshall team.
