James Elbert Bender
James Elbert Bender, 80, of Selma, died Saturday, Sept. 13, at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, in New Live Oak Cemetary with Dr. John Fain and the Rev. Elwood Sims officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be at Lawrence Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Survivors include his wife, Laura G. Bender of Selma; three sons, Donald Bender, James H. Bender and David Bender, all of Selma; two daughters, Wanda (Lee) Calame and Debora (Keith) Rickets of Selma; three stepchildren, Peggy (Rick) Roberts, Alton (Stephanie) Frew and Karen Jones, all of Selma; 15 grandchildren, Amanda Calame, Lee Calame IV, Bo Rickets, Chip Rickets , Jenny Bates, Melissa Bender, Harrison Bender, Nicole Bender, Kiplin Frew, Clark Frew, Stacey Roberts, Shea Roberts, Holly Frew, Casey Frew and Clint Jones, all of Selma; and two great-grandchildren, Logan Bates and Elijah Frew of Selma; a brother, Lorenza Lee (Nita) Bender of Selma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are the grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Red Cross.
