Johnson wins debut

A pounding running game and tough defense led the Francis-Marion Rams to the first win the in Vernon Johnson era Friday night in Marion, 42-0 over Sunshine.

Led by the running of fullbacks Bryant Moore and Antonio Collins, the Rams rambled for 267 yards on the ground.

Fullback Bryant Moore rushed for 115 yards and three touchdowns on just 15 carries.

Moore just played

in the first half of the win.

Collins moved to fullback and picked up 75 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Quarterback Elwood Johnson hit on just one pass, but it was

a big one.

He hit Devron Donnican on a 42-yard touchdown pass.

Johnson also ran for a touchdown.

The defense was strong for the Rams as well.

Collins had nine tackles, Lee Williams had eight and Scott Jackson had six tackles and a fumble recovery.

Quinton Martin returned a Sunshine fumble 31-yards for a touchdown in the winning effort.

Cordero Melton did a good job of handling the extra point duties, according to Jackson.

The Rams get region action fired up this week as they host Northside Friday

night.
