Byron Lovoy McLaurin

Byron Lovoy McLaurin, 59, of Sardis, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at his residence.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, in the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. John Ingram officiating. Burial will follow in Corinth Deere Cemetery in Franklin with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his daughter, Shannon Ashley McLaurin; brothers, Franklyn McLaurin of Bermuda and Paul McLaurin of Repton; sisters, Maxine Gilmore of Ashford and Linda Green of Repton.

Active pallbeareres are Jimmy White, Bruce Barnes, Ray Harrellson, Charles A. Buchanan, Tommy Gilmore, David Greene, Scott Parker.

The family received friends at Lawrence Funeral Home on Saturday.

Joann Hopkins Jones

Joann Hopkins Jones, 88, of Selma, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, in the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Fancher officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Memory Gardens with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

She was preceded in death by her brohters and sisters: Sammy Hopkins, Birtie Seymore, Becky Davis, Preston Hopkins, and Dawson Hopkins.

Survivors include her husband, Casey L. Jones; sons, Levert (Linda) Jones, Lonnie (Sandra) Jones, Donald (Marsha) Jones, all of Selma; brother, Arlin Hopkins of Atlanta, Ga.; sister-in-law, Martha Huckabee; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday.

Bernice Eloise Smith

Bernice Eloise Smith, 71, of Orrville, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at her residence.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, in the Chapel of Rockco Funeral Home in Centreville with the Rev. Willard Scott officiating.

Burial will follow at Union Presbyterian Cemetery in Vance.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Smith, and daughter, Janet Brown.

Survivors include her son, James Larry Smith of West Blocton; daughters, Reta Nuss of Orrville and Peggy (Douglas) Scott of Thorsby; brother, Edward Rogers of Hixon, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be Roy Adams, Larry Jones, Harold Delaney, Ronny DeLaney, Mark Boone and Tony Smith.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Melissa Hoffman and employees of Cahawba Hospice.
