The Selma Police Department and the Dallas County Sheriff’s office are warning citizens to avoid a woman who is staking out business parking lots and begging for money.

Selma Police spokesperson Warren Hinson said the woman, whose identify has not been made public, is preying upon her victims by demanding money for various reasons, including the need to put gas in her car.

Reports describe the subject as being African-American and weighing over 300 pounds.

Both the police and the sheriff’s office have been flooded with complaints about the woman.

Sheriff Harris Huffman Jr. said his office recently received a warrant for her arrest and officers are looking to bring her in.

Until she is caught, Hinson said the best thing citizens can do is to not give her any money.

One concern for police is that new reports indicate the woman is now going door-to-door asking for money.

Hinson also advises that citizens not open their doors or give rides to any suspicious persons.

Huffman said he believes the subject is living somewhere in Orrville.
