The Selma Dixie Pre-Major All-Stars beat Prattville for the second time Sunday evening in Clanton. The win advanced Selma to the State Tournament this weekend in Enterprise.

Selma scored seven runs in the first two innings and held on to take the 9-7 win.

Selma’s 15- and 16-year-old All-Star team had a balanced attack.

Josh McAteer, Reid Buster and Chris Sewell all touched home plate twice for Selma.

Buster, Chase Knight, Blake South and McAteer all doubled in the winning effort.

Prattville scored a run in the first to take the early lead.

Selma quickly responded.

Sewell reached on an error and moved over when Jeremy Smith did the same.

After a strikeout, Knight was plunked to load the bases.

Tolar reached on a runner-scoring fielder’s choice and Roman Paxton walked to be the final base-runner of the inning.

Prattville went down in order in the second and Selma broke the game wide open.

McAteer reached on an error. Sewell singled and Smith followed suit.

Buster was plunked with the bases loaded to force a run home.

Knight doubled in two runners.

Tolar traded places with Knight when he smashed a double.

Two runs scored on the base knock.

Paxton sacrificed another run home to put Selma up 7-1.

Prattville went down in order in the third.

Selma stretched the lead to 8-1 in the bottom of the third.

McAteer doubled before Sewell walked.

McAteer eventually scored.

Prattville took advantage of a pair of walks and plated three runs in the fourth inning.

They cut the lead to 8-4.

Selma went down in order in the fourth and Prattville tacked on a run in the top of the fifth.

An error in the outfield opened the door for Prattville in the inning.

In the bottom of the inning, South doubled but it was wasted by a trio of strikeouts.

A walk and another error helped Prattville plate two more runs in the top of the sixth.

Selma’s seven-run lead was down to one so the All-Stars went back to work. Buster doubled and Knight singled him home to give Selma a sorely-needed cushion.

Prattville couldn’t complete the comeback.

They went down in order in the top of the seventh and Selma advanced to the State Tournament in Enterprise.

Selma reports for opening ceremonies Thursday night in Enterprise.

Their first game is against Oxford Friday night at 5:30 p.m.

If Selma wins, they will play again Saturday at 8 p.m.

If they lose, they’ll play Saturday at 3 p.m.
