James Blevins

James Blevins, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at a local nursing home.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2910 Marie Foster Street, with Elder James Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include eight children, Archie (Lizzie) Blevins of Selma, Ruby (Terry) Rogers of Riverdale, Ga., Barbara (Frank) Parks of Brunswick, Maine, Willie (Gloria) Blevins of Selma, Robert (Mary) Blevins, Selma, Linda Jean Blevins of Baltimore, Md., Nathaniel (Jeannie) Blevins and Geraldine (Robert) Turner both of Selma; one sister, Ida Blevins Smith of Marion Junction; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; 34 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who love him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Inell Blevins and one daughter, Louise Johnson.

Active pallbearers are grandchildren.

Family visitation will be held Wednesday, June 26, from 7 – 8 p.m. at Lewis Brothers Funeral Home

Mr. Blevins was born December 6, 1920 in Perry County, to the late Milton James and Mamie Mitchell Blevins.

Mr. Blevins dedicated his life to Jehovah God and in imitation of his son, Jesus Christ, symbolized it by water baptism on September 19, 1987. He served Jehovah faithfully until his death.

Edd Stone

Edd Stone, of Perry County, formerly of Selma and Mobile, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in a healthcare facility.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at the Chapel of Moblie Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his daughter, Katrina S. (Tim) Wooten of Theodore; two sisters, Violet Rogowski and Thornie McDonald of Birmingham; two grandchildren, Tanner Lee Wooten and Thomas Edward &uot;Ted&uot; Wooten of Theodore; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy H. Stone, sister, Lallie Rodgers and three brothers, John, R.B., and B.D. Stone.

Active pallbearers are Kyle Hughey, Randy Hughey, Dale Hughey, Mike Clark, Hal McDonald, Mark Jones, Carlton Dueitt, Tommy Hilliard and Johnny Parker.

Honorary pallbearers are Floyd Bowman, Awford Cook, Johnny Chance, Jack Sizemore, A.B. Williamson, Dr. Reeves Dill, Ted Wooten and Tanner Wooten.

Family visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Christine Moorer

Christine Moorer, 52, of Miami, Fla., formerly of Lowndes County, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at Old Bethel Baptist Church, Collirene, with the Rev. Larry Blake officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Cemetery, Collirene, with the Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include parents, Classie Bell and James (Bott) Moorer.
