R. C. &uot;Sunny&uot; Walker, 61, of Selma, died Saturday, June 14, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Selmont Community Baptist Church with the Rev. D. L. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two brothers, Eddie (Cora) Walker of Selma and Joenathan Walker of New York; one sister, Christine Fitts of Selma; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers are nephews.

Honorary pallbearers are nephews and cousins.

Vivian Chandler

Vivian Chandler, 50, of Uniontown, died Monday, June 16, 2003, at a Northport nursing home.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at Rock Chapel A.M.E. Church in Uniontown, with the Rev. James Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove P.B. Church Cemetery with Julia L. White Funeral Home directing.

Cleveland Fikes Jr., 66, of Uniontown, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at his home.

Alfred Heard, of Marion, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at his home.

Sherrell Irvan Barr

Sherrell Irvan Barr,

87, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at a healthcare facility in Destin, Fla.

Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 12, at the New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Lee Tate officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Barr was born Dec. 7,1915 in Myrtlewood, to the late Milton Page Barr and Mable Sessions Barr.

Survivors include his daughters, Marion Brooks and Brenda Kerwin; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a sister, Helen Barr Breckenridge, of Sweetwater; and one brother, Ralph Wesley Barr of Milton, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Swanner Barr.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either the Scholarship fund of the Selma First Baptist Church or to Covenant Hospice, 101 Hart Street, Niceville, FL 32578.

Mr. Barr was a veteran of World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded at the Battle of the Bulge. He was employed with Sears Roebuck for more than 25 years.

Survivors include one son, Willie (Frances) Gordon; two stepsons, Jody (Dorothy) Grant and Ronnie; three daughters, Lenora Gordon, Elizabeth Gordon and Carolina Moore; two step-daughters, Debra Hardy and Melinda Hardy; one brother, Tom Caffey; those she reared as infants Charles Gordon of Cleveland, Ohio, Wallace Gordon and Adam Gordon; 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Mamie Gordon; special nieces, Teresa Gordon of Detroit, Mich., Dorothy Jean Surles of Hayneville; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; a close of friend, Phyllis Burke.
