McRae’s bats were red-hot Wednesday evening in 7- and 8-year-old softball play. They batted around twice and banged out 22 hits as they pounded McConnell Twins, 16-3, in a mercy-rule shortened playoff game.

Heather Bright led the attack.

She had a single, a double and a homer.

She scored three times and had three RBIs.

Ayana Bennett had a pair of doubles and a single.

McConnell got two RBIs from pitcher Rebecca Hastings.

Hastings played tough defense for the Twins as well.

She made the majority of the McConnell assists despite a scary injury.

Hastings battled back after taking a hard-hit line drive off her face.

She scooped the ball up and nearly made the out before leaving the game with a bloody lip.

She returned quickly and played well.

McConnell took the lead in the top of the first.

Caroline Sherrer, Ann Elizabeth Wells and Hastings all singled to start the game.

Megan Leigh Siddens singled after a fielder’s choice.

Hollis Ellis and Susanna Wagner also singled to load the bases.

Amber Guthrie sent Siddens home with a fielder’s choice.

McRae’s fought back with four runs.

Natasha Parrish, Bright and Jesse Miley all singled with one out.

Gabryelle Dunning’s’ bases-loaded double brought two runs home. Tenisha Chappelle knocked two runs home with a ground out.

The McRae’s defense stood tall in the second inning and held McConnell scoreless.

Bright’s three-run homer helped McRae’s score six runs in the bottom of the inning as they jumped to a 10-3 lead.

McConnell went down in order in the third inning and McCrae’s plated six more runs. Keri Harris, Teandra Harris and Paullesia Crum each had singles in the inning.

Down by 13-runs, McConnell needed a major rally to comeback but McRae’s held them scoreless to end the game.
