Emma Lee Small of Minter, died Friday, May 23, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, May 31, at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Clarence Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include six sons, Robert Small, Douglas (Minerva) Small, Tommy (Lois) Small, Charlie (Darnell) Small, Joseph (Shirley) Walton and Woodrow Small; two daughters, Eloise Stallworth and Mildred (Elberd) Hall; special daughter, Annie Mae Thomas; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; three daughters-in-law; one son-in-law.

Active pallbearers are Alphonso Stallworth, Phillip Stallworth, Elvis Stallworth, Ricky Small, Elberd D. Hall and Eric Small.

Honorary pallbearers are Carl Small, Jerome Thornton, Carlos Small and Ricky Moore.

Richard Lynn Piper

Richard Lynn Piper, 66, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Selma, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, in Ocala, Fla.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Sonny Edwards officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie Piper; his parents, Odis and Nell Watters; brothers, Henderson “Tubby” Piper, Raymond “Bubba” Piper and Clarence “Toota” Piper; sister, Shirley Ann Baggett; two sons; ad four daughters; numerous grandchildren; and a good friend, Buddy Dennis.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society in Richard’s name.

Faye A. Williams

Faye A. Williams, died May 23, 2003, in El Chjon, Calif..

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Selma. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Smith & Gaston Funeral of Birmingham directing.

Survivors include two sisters, Evelyn (Nathan) Bias of Atlanta, Ga., and La’Wonda Peoples of Ft. Worth, Texas; two brothers, John Willliams of Athens, Ga., and Earl Thomas of Atlanta, Ga.; one foster brother, Jose Cardon of Columbus, Ga.; grandmother, Ethel Williams of Selma; two nieces, Kristian Bias of Atlanta and Destiny Peoples of Ft. Worth; two nephews, Jordan Bias of Atlanta and Julian Peiples of Ft. Worth; 37 aunts and uncles of Selma, Tuskegee and Los Angeles; six great-aunts and uncles of Selma, Detroit and Ohio; 50 cousins in various parts of the U.S.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ms. Williams was born on Sept. 19, 1963 in Selma to Mr. and Mrs. Evans (Buddy) Williams, who preceded her in death. She was baptized at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Selma. After graduating from high school from Ala. Lutheran Academy, she attended college in Atlanta, Ga. She spent several years in Atlanta, prior to moving to San Diego, Calif. She was

an accomplished poet who won numerous poetry awards for her work. She had high aspirations of writing a book of poetry to share with the world.

Henry Allen Dunkin

Henry Allen Dunkin, 68, of Selma, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at a local hospital.

Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Bayne ad the Rev. Gene Woodruff officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Dunkin of Selma; son, Allen (Mary Anne) Dunkin of Rowell, Ga.; daughter, Kristin (John) Strong of Grove Hill; grandchildren, Olivia Housem, Becca Dunkin, Libby Dunkin, Caleb House and Matthew Dunkin.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Sister Springs Baptist Church in Tyler or the American Cancer Association.

Laura Mitchell

Services for Laura Mitchell 88, of Marion, were held on Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at Eagle Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Bailey Dawson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Julia L. White Funeral Home directing.

Alma Murphy

Services for Alma Murphy, 63, of Marion, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Marion Baptist Academy with the Rev. Robert Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Morning Star Cemetery with Julia L. White Funeral Home directing.
