What was supposed to be a routine traffic stop turned out to be a little more than ordinary when officers from the Selma Police Department arrested a fugitive from justice during the early morning hours Monday.

Jarivis A. Roller, 26, was taken into police custody when officers Frederick Walker and Brian Dixon discovered he was wanted for first-degree robbery in Jefferson County.

Shortly after midnight Sunday, the two officers pulled over a car that had four people inside.

Roller gave the officers a Selma address as his residence and claimed to work with the Montgomery Housing Authority.

According to officer Randy Christian of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the warrant was issued on Jan. 2, 2001.

The suspect was detained at the Dallas County Jail until he was retrieved by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
