Preston Brooks Ames

Preston Brooks Ames, 33, of Gulf Shores, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at his home.

Graveside services are at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Dr. Ronald E. Stone officiating and Lawrence funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his brother, Mort (Sarah) Ames III of Chicago, Ill.; sister, Jodie (Andy) Ames Williford of Asheville, N.C. and their children, A.B. and Ames of Asheville, N.C.; aunts and uncles, BeBe (Archie) Smith Reeves of Selma, Sally (David) Smith Carrington of Mobile, Sherry (Jimmy) Ames Ware of Point Clear; and Bobbie Ames of Montgomery’ cousins, Archie Reeves IV, Allen Reeves, Edgar Reeves, David

Carrington, Blackshear Carrington, Freddie Carrington, Ames Ware Ellis, John Ames Jr., Elizabeth A. Woodruff, Laurie A. Brantley, David Ames, Jim Ames and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine Brooks Smith Ames and Mortimer P. Ames.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Selma. Mr. Ames will be greatly missed by his family.

Johnny Lee Johnson

Johnny Lee Johnson, 43, of Demopolis, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at hospital in Memphis.

Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at St. Paul M. B. Church in Demopolis with the Rev. Albert Murdock Jr. and Rev. Charlie Moore, pastor officiating. Burial followed in Allenville Cemetery in Faunsdale, with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

Eleanor R. Ware

Eleanor R. &uot;Sister B&uot; Ware, 79, of Demopolis, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at a Tuscaloosa hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Larkin and Scott Funeral Home.

Doris S. Hopkins

Doris S. Hopkins, 62, of Selma, died Friday, May 16, 2003, in a Birmingham hospital.

Graveside services are at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at Pineview Cemetery with the Rev. Sonny Edwards officiating and the Selma Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur Lee Hopkins of Selma; son David Nichols of Odenville; daughter Judy (Brad) England of Selma;

four brothers, Joe Stough of Millers Ferry, Billy Stough of Randolph, Bobby Stough of Madison, Wis., Norman Stough of Randolph; two sisters, Ruby Lewis of Bellamey and Margaret Limbrick of Verbena; and five grandchildren.

The family received friends between 5-7 p.m. on May 17 at Selma Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be David Stough, Eric Stough, Danny Stough, Gerome Mayfield, Jeremy Hopkins, and Adam Hopkins.

William Thomas Ogletree

William Thomas Ogletree, 86, of Centreville, died on Saturday, May 17, 2003, at Bibb Medical Nursing Home.

Services are at 11 a.m. Monday, May 19, at Centreville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Luann Smith and the Rev. Jim Posey officiating. Burial will follow at Pineland Memorial Cemetery.

He was an active member of the Centreville United Methodist Church, a volunteer for the Bibb Medical Auxiliary, past member of the Centreville Lions Club, past scout master for the Centreville Boy Scouts of America, and retired from the 31st Dixie Division of the Army Air Corps.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Ogletree.

Survivors include two sons, William B. Ogletree of Centreville and James T. (Heather) Ogletree of Centreville; sister Ann Noble of Electic; five grandchildren, William K. Ogletree, Elizabeth A. Ogletree, Graham Ogletree, Campbell Ogletree, and Annesleigh Ogletree.

Active pallbearers will include Steve Crews, Steve Kirby, John O. Tabor, Graham Ogletree, Campbell Ogletree and Kavan Ogletree.

Visitation will on Sunday, May 18 from 4-6 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home.

Mary Kirk

Mary Kirk, 90, of Uniontown, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital.

Services are at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 19, at United Methodist Church in Uniontown with the Rev. Glenn Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes of Marion directing.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. at the church before the funeral on May 19.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lamar Edward Stevenson, Alton Brooks Tanton, and Leonard Hoyt Kirk; brothers Eugene Miller and Basil Miller; and sister, Norma White.

Survivors include two sons, L.E. Stevenson, Jr. of Uniontown and William B. Stevenson of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter Mary S. Sanderson of Uniontown; sister, Aletha Williams of Montgomery; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will include her grandchildren.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 72 years and had served as Worthy Grand Matron with Hoyt Kirk for the year 1957-1958.

Virginia S. Etheridge

Virginia S. Etheridge, 86, of San Antonio, Texas, died on May 13, 2003 at Incarnate Word Extended Care Center.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Sweet Water Cemetery with Kidd-Robbins Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be from 8-9 a.m. at Kidd-Robbins Chapel in Demopolis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Etheridge and grandson Johnny Blakeney.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra E. Wilson of San Antonio, Texas; son Lonnie Etheridge of Raleigh, N.C.; four grandchildren, Jody Wilson of College Station, Texas, Allen Etheridge of New Orleans, La., Alton Etheridge of Seattle, Wash., and Randy Blakeney of Tuscaloosa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Thomaston United Methodist Church in Thomaston.
