Morgan Academy’s Lady Senators were unable to keep pace with a strong Faith Academy team, but the Senators still had a strong showing at Friday’s finals for the AISA State Track and Field Meet held at Bloch Park.

The Lady Senators finished second in the tournament behind strong performances from Mallory Jones, Allison Peak, Katie Taylor, Blaire Wood, Ali Pilcher and others.

Taylor, Peak and Wood each took home a first-place ribbon for individual events.

Wood took first in the 100-meter hurdles.

Taylor was first in the discus and Peak, a freshman who won the 200-meter title in the seventh grade, won the 400-meters.

Morgan’s 400-meter and 800-meter relay teams each finished second behind Faith. The 4-by-400-meter relay team took third.

Ginger Gaines took fourth in the 100-meter relay behind Wood.

Jones took third in the 1600-meter run and the senior got her first-ever second place finish in the state by a nose in the 800-meter run.

Whitney Casey finished fourth in the 400-meters.

Casey also took sixth in shot-put.

Taylor was first in discus while Elizabeth Elliott placed second.

Taylor was second in shot and Elliott took third.

For the boy’s, the 1600-meter relay team of Eric Pilcher, Allen Calloway, Josh McAteer and Owen Peak placed second.

Trent Friday took third in the 110-meter high hurdles and fourth in the intermediate. Newcomer Robert Collins was set for third in the 300-meter intermediate’s but tripped over the final hurdle in only the third race of his career.

Illness devastated Central Christian Academy’s team Thursday. They didn’t have many competitors Friday.

Senior thrower Javaris Burden finished second overall in the discus after leading the event on Thursday.
